This place should be paradise, and in many ways it is. Spectacular location, large rooms with character, good food, helpful staff - all positive. However, we were unlucky. One evening, returning to our room after dinner, we found bats flying around inside. Staff were helpful in removing them, but they soon found their way back in. Staff came three times to remove them and to try to block up where they were coming in - they were great - but I was still up at 3.30pm getting bats out of the room myself. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked and we could only change rooms the following day. I accept these things happen. What didn't impress me, however, was the attitude of the general manager, who showed virtually no sympathy and empathy. He made light of the matter, almost laughing it off. There was no gesture of goodwill, financial or otherwise. Having slept only two hours that night, we were obviously exhausted for the next few days and it took the edge off our trip. A hotel is only as good as its general manager - can't recommend.
