Upon arrival one is met with a barricaded entrance and security people who yell at you that you must walk from the car park area. Doesn't matter how much luggage you have, the entrance cannot be entered and you must walk from the car park. By the way, the car park is dark and possibly not safe. When I asked at reception why they do this - it's for "security"... ??? Check in was as if they had never done it before. Rooms are OK, but coffee and water are not replenished. Toilet leaked. Food left me deathly ill. Meeting facilities are miles away. Gym is mostly closed - at least at times like early morning when someone would want to use it. Restaurant service was reasonably friendly but food was bad. Breakfast was completely inedible. No signage, so no idea how to get around the place. Banquet room had very little a/c. Overall the place and the staff are old and tired and clearly the management looks only at the cost and does nothing with customers or service in mind. It's a great location, but would need to be torn down and rebuilt and re-staffed before I'd consider staying again.

My expectations were low based on the reviews here but the experience was better than I had hoped for. I was on a business trip so didnt use the swimming pool (which was being repaired), and the children's play area was totally inaccessible. Room was comfortable. The gym was basic (no working airco, very cramped) but I have seen worse. Breakfast good. It may not live up to a 5* experience in other countries but in all not bad.

Hotels are supposed to be your home away from home, and in the 10 years I have been traveling, mostly Africa, 34 African countries, and counting, this has been true until King Fahd. My stay in each country is an average of 3 weeks. I get to know the staff and begin to feel welcome and comfortable; there are always small things, but they generally work out with the help of a willing and able staff. This hotel is convenient to work, and as its website boasts, caters to the business clientele, and has WI-FI, if I come back to Senegal, I will stay somewhere else and make do with the traffic. The housekeeping staff at King Fahd will try to accommodate you, and they do as well as possible, given the rules, but the rooms don’t get much of deep cleaning. The view can also be grand, but you have to ask specifically for a room with a view. Ms Khady Diatta at the front desk is always warm and welcoming very professional and made any front desk transaction seamless. Sadly she is but one. King Fahd is uncomfortable from the beginning, you get some help but not without having to beg for help/service from 3-4 different people. They are the most untrained “hospitality” staff I have encountered, and they will tell you what they think you want to hear, not the truth. Zero communication amongst staff. The WI-FI will not work for hours to days, but they will be surprised when you tell them it is not working if you complain to enough people; in my case, 5 people in one day. They sent two people in the AM to confirm the trouble with WI-FI, but they were not IT, and nothing came of it. I Spoke 2 times to the manager (Fatou Naiaye), 2 hours apart, and she told me they had hotspots available. I have never been more uncomfortable after interacting with a manager than with this manager, who became angry, just short of yelling at me after I tried to explain my frustration with the many things promised but unavailable in this hotel. The restaurant for breakfast is a whole other YUCK; the same wet sponge is used to “clean" the table and mat, swipe the mat, but there is a layer of forearm sweat lingering on the tables that, even after I pointed out made the server giggle and made no more effort to clean. There is no spray disinfectant for cleaning. That said, if you show up to breakfast after 7:00 AM, on my first Sunday, they haven’t rid up the tables or reset them, so you have to go look for flatware and napkins as well as a spot to eat, and they literally ask you what you are looking for!! Same breakfast food every day for three weeks. This is when I decided I couldn’t eat in there just take bananas and yogurt; I tried to leave with two pieces of bread on a plate and yogurt with a spoon to my room but was chased down by Maître ď, who took my plate and spoon, now with two pieces of bread in fist and yogurt back to the room. Apparently, the restaurant manager will not allow flatware or plates/bowls to leave unless it is room service. The rooms are musty and damp, even th

I was skeptical at first after reading the bad reviews/comments. But this hotel surprised me! I stayed on the 3rd floor, in one of the renovated rooms. Shower was great, (after i figured out how to close the door!). Toilets are equipped with a bidet, hairdryer, iron and toiletries available (shower gel, shampoo, lotion - not the greatest quality though). Though there is a language barrier, the staff are friendly, and super helpful. Few minor issues: (1) Intermittent wifi connectivity on the 3rd floor (consider purchasing an esim, I purchased from Airalo). (2) ATM did not work for a few days. (3) traffic is a nightmare. Regarding the traffic (seems like a general dakar issue), Blaise Diagne International Airport, is about 60km away, however the trip to the hotel took 2+ hours. Plan activities and travel with this in mind!

Be very wary of this hotel. They take money from your credit card without approval. they have charged me twice for the same night. Payment wa taken over 6 weeks apart too. The Hotel refused to respond to my emails until my company got involved but are still denying taking two payments. Will never use this hotel again., which is not a bad thing as the staff are incredibly rude and the rooms smell of damp.

The reception desk at King Fahd Palace Hotel is very elegant. The agents at the desk are very welcoming. Their demeanor assists in keeping your check-in process stress free. All staff members, from the cleaning crew to the site restaurants and bars, are very friendly and work to make sure that you are satisfied with their service. Our room was the best! The view of the ocean was breathtaking. The sound of the ocean waves at night contributed a great night's sleep along with the most comfortable bed and pillows! The cuisine was on point. My favorite dish was the Crispy Shrimp and great salad. Stay at King Fahd Hotel. It is thebestin Dakar! Dr. Linda itoja

This place is truly awful. I travel Africa for a living so I have experienced many lovely hotels across the continent. This is not one of them. The place is palatial - I would describe it as "faded decadence, a relic from the past". The rooms are perpetually damp and uncomfortable, with A/C that cannot be shut off so I spent much of my time freezing in my room. The WIFI is terrible, works intermittently in rooms and not at all in conference areas. The grounds are far too spread out with the conference facilities a 5-10 minute walk from the main building - making it unwieldy to return to your room midday. The food at the restaurant is barely passable. Worse yet, I put a "do not disturb" sign on my door permanently for the 5 days and nights I was there as I did not want my room cleaned and didn't want anyone entering without me there. Despite that, on at least two occasions, staff tried or did enter my room (once while I was sleeping, which felt a bit creepy). But the worst of all is that somebody entered my room and stole $200 (leaving another $250 behind with the hopes it would not be detected, I am guessing?). At first, the hotel management "appeared" to take this seriously. They interviewed me not once but twice in their management offices, taking copious notes and asking about lots of detail with lots of pomp and decorum. They said they had cameras and card readers that could identify who the culprit was and promised to take rapid action and get back to me soon. You know how this story ends - I never heard back from them, despite assurances that they would email me the next Monday upon my return to the US. It struck me that they wanted to put up a pretense of "looking into it", but the minute they realized I would not make a public fuss about the incident, they fell into inaction. So in conclusion, I would say the hotel is not very safe and management doesn't truly care about security issues. Go somewhere else. Dakar is filled with many wonderful hotels so you won't lack for choice.

This was once a very high end hotel. There have been a few owners and management groups. My room was on the first floor and clearly recently renovated. It was clean, no bugs, decent toiletries, and usb ports, so able to charge my devices without worrying about plugs or adapters. I found the room very satisfactory. The conference facilities ere a bit of a labyrinth to get to and from via the hotel. Easier actually to go out doors and walk from the hotel to the conference area, if the heat doesn’t bother you. The hotel exterior could use some love and attention. You can walk from the pool and restaurant area out onto the beach and Atlantic Ocean. From the street side of the hotel you’re just a few blocks from “The American Grocery Store” and several embassies. From the driveway entry you are within eyesight of the American Embassy. Walking in the area during daylight I felt quite safe. The air pollution is quite bad though. To get a sense of the city you have to leave the hotel neighborhood. There were armed guards at the entrance, visible staff in most areas, etc. There is a tourist trap shopping area a bit past the embassy if you want to shop but don’t have the time or gumption to venture into the city. The only real problem that I ran into was trying to access local currency. I changed money at the airport, but needed more. The hotel has ATMs, neither of which (different banks) would honor my cash advance request. I went to two different banks, only to be told that they also did not exchange cash. Only one of the two had an ATM, and it too would not process my cash advance request. You can use credit cards in stores for larger purchases, but most smaller transactions are cash. Negotiate your taxi fare before you climb in.

Looking twice with two young children and nanny. place totally empty and huge. go figure. went to the pool and beach. again deserted. rarely i have seen a 5* so run down. tiles coming off, pool ladders coming off, rust everywhere. unsmiling staff. below par food. why would anybody chose a dump like this i have no clue. on second time we went were welcomed by a posse of totally wasted drunken americans, guzzling bears and dancing to very loud music. smoking, honestly i do not remember seeing such a show in another 5* property.
