Booked to stay here a couple of nights as a short winter break, having stayed here a number of times in the past. Had a suite, which was very roomy and comfortable, with large bathroom. Room was very clean. Room facilities included tea and coffee supplies, bottled water, iron and ironing board, tv in the lounge, and toiletries in the bathroom. The suite felt dated with dark brown furniture, and dim lighting. Evidence of water ingress on one window cill. Bathroom had a shower over whirlpool bath. Shower took quite a long time for hot water to come though. Breakfast was part help yourself - cereals, fruit, juice etc, and hot breakfast cooked to order. For someone preferring continental style breakfast there was not much choice. We had dinner both nights. The bar and lounge area is welcoming with a lovely log fire and comfortable seating. This dining area is nicely presented. There is a fixed menu, with option for 2 or 3 courses. We found the food average rather than fine dining so a bit disappointing. Parts of the hotel are not currently open, and some of the exteriors are clearly in need of maintenance. We found all the staff lovely and the lady on reception helpful. There is adequate parking which is free. There were not many other people staying, which may be the time of year. We learnt that the hotel is currently up for sale, so unsure where the future lies. Chipping is around a mile or so away, with a nice little cafe at the back of the post office if you want to walk in.
