Fabulous food and great staff! Thank you to Tedi who recommended us to eat there. Food was worth the wait! Will be back for sure. Couldn’t be anymore happier with our experience there! 5 star fine dining experience, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming & professional!

After a recommendation from the tourist information centre we booked for dinner at The Rix Hotel. This boutique hotel has great decor and friendly wait staff. We dined here the 2 nights during our stay in Charters Towers the food and service were so good on our first night we decided to dine there on our 2nd evening. We meet the delightful owner Teddy, it is definitely a step above the average pub, delicious food and ambience. It’s advisable to book especially during the busy months. Highly recommend The Rix.

Busy atmosphere and lovely staff. Walked in during lunch it seemed quite busy. We only stayed for a drink but will be returning to try the food! Great service from the lady bartender, even when it seemed to be busy she still served us quickly and was even able to have a chat to us about the raffle game they were playing. Will definitely be back.

So, a bunch of us turn up in town task me with finding a pub with best beers. The website tells me that craft beers are available in the Cellar Bar. The bar tender hadn’t got a clue when I asked about the whereabouts of the said Cellar Bar. Not his fault, he’s only been on deck for 2 weeks. But no craft beers on tap nor in the fridge. If you don’t have them, remove it from your website

Congratulations to all involved in creating an excellent dining experience in Charters Towers. I have just eaten one of the best steaks, been served by lovely staff in a delightful setting. Whatever they are doing, they need to pass it along.

The three stars is primarily for the room we booked. The staff in the pub were lovely and friendly, we didn’t have a meal so can’t comment on that. But our room left little to be desired. We paid $112.50 (I had a discount from ***********) and it really wasn’t worth the money, more like a budget $80-$90 room. The motel is a common spot for mine workers which is fine but there was a lot of noise with them coming and going during the night due to being on shifts - not the motels problem I know. There are no bedside tables and the bed was awkwardly positioned with a door behind (leading to who knows where) Bed was quite hard and not very comfortable. Air con was on when we arrived so it was nice and cool so that’s a bonus. The cleaner that cleaned the room after previous clientele didn’t ‘restock’ the fridge - nearly empty bottle of water with a used glass next to it with water still in it, and a little carton of milk half empty, with straw stuck in it. A microwave supplied but no plates or cutlery except two mugs and two teaspoons so if you bought a frozen meal or something to eat bring your own fork to eat it after heating it up. Bathroom dated and took a while for hot water to come through. Line of ants on bathroom floor. Not horrible by any means but not worth the price we paid. Definitely budget accommodation. I don’t think we would stay there again. Once again, staff were lovely and no I didn’t mention stuff in fridge as I couldn’t be stuffed but I’m sure they would have accommodated me if I did. Hence why they still got 3 stars.
