Monique and Alain provide the most authentic experience of life in this beautiful region. Coming to their lovely chateau is like visiting friends. Their welcome is warm - invitations to share a drink with them after a long journey, lovely rooms without a thought for modernity but as one would expect from a dear friend, breakfasts of local food and Monique’s amazing chutneys and jams. Despite the language barrier (my appalling French!) we managed to have the most fascinating conversations and we were made to fell truly welcome in their beautiful house. The cheese trolley will form a new family memory as will the lovely golden retrievers, Mitzi the cat and the random cow we discovered one night in the garden! If you want a sterile “Traveltavern” (you know who you are…) this is not the place for you. If you want to drift off to sleep in perfect peace on comfy beds and in the house of a friend, then this is the place for you.
