St Kyrans Guest House

Well what a wonderful place to stay. We had the most lovely welcome, the room was great with a fab view of the lake and the breakfast was delicious. I can’t recommend St Kyrans enough. Nothing was too much trouble. We were sent on our way for a visit to Trim Castle and Drogeda. We had a lovely day. Thank you.

True irish relaxed hospitality from Helena and Patrick, and room servicing. 2nd visit for 2 nights visiting relatives, and en route to Donegal. Lovely comfortable, spotlessly clean room and breakfast, made to order. A request made in advance for shower equipment was ready. Beautiful location overlooking Lough Ramor. Just what we needed. We stayed there for one night as we were attending a wedding locally. We had the warmest welcome and upgraded to beautiful room with a magnificent view. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was really lovely.

Thank you Helena and Patrick for making us so welcome. What a fabulous place to stay in Virginia. The room has everything you could need. Very comfortable bed and all the little extras in the room. Breakfast was fantastic. Love the soda bread. The view of the lake is breathtaking, especially at night with the lights lit. We are so lucky to have found St kyrans 11 years ago. Looking forward to seeing all the new works outside.

We stayed at St Kyrans the night before a wedding at Virginia Park Lodge - as a family we had most of the rooms in the hotel, and the lady running it (I think Helena - could be wrong!) was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble, she organised taxis, printed things for us and chatted to us about the house. Such a warm welcome, it felt like a big family home with us all staying there! We had one of the downstairs rooms with a view of the lake, and the view was incredible! (See picture). The room was spacious, and the bed comfortable. We brought our 7 month old son and he was well catered for with high chair at breakfast and cot in the room (as well as some cute blankets!) Breakfast was delicious, and the views from breakfast again are amazing. There are some renovations taking place outside (no work actually went on when we stayed, so didn’t impact the stay at all), and I am sure when they are completed the additions will be fantastic. Thank you very much for an amazing stay.

I really enjoyed my stay at St kyrans, I was visiting for a wedding in Virginia Park Lodge which is only a 5 minute drive away. The rooms and breakfast were brilliant and the lake at the back is beautiful l would highly recommend!

We stayed in St, Kyrans on a trip to a family wedding/ I have to say it was one of the best experiences superior to many 4 & 5 star hotels I have visited. The room was really nicely furnished ,bed soo comfortable and perfect pillows. A really great ensuite with toiletries and tissues . Both bedroom & bathroom spotlessly clean Then breakfast , lovely choice well cooked and to cap it all stunning view of the lake!! Our host was so welcoming and efficient with a great personality. We really did not want to leave. The venue would be perfect for a small wedding or family celebration.

In May we stayed for one night in St Kyran's. We were met at the door by a most warm and welcoming man and had a lovely chat and welcome from him. The room was spacious with a view of the lake. Next morning for breakfast I ordered the vegetarian breakfast. But what happened next was not what was expected from the 150 euro price – the woman went diagonally across the otherwise empty dining room and called over to me “Would an omelette be ok?” which came at me like a missile and from the tone of her voice there was no other discussion going to be had on the subject. As I say when a vegetarian option was offered, this was not what I expected. Again for the price of the stay this was wholly distasteful. Despite the man being so nice, and the room, the breakfast and service for same left a very bad taste indeed. Also the cereal choices were less than generous. When away for breakfast it is nice to have a choice of cereals, not just one miserable box of cereal plonked in a bowl.

Lovely location, nice room with everything you could need for an evening. The Full Irish breakfast was delicious and not in the slightest bit greasy and with the homemade bread may for a great start to the day. The lady running the place seems to do everything but still has time to chat and make you very welcome. She even rang the room to suggest a couple of places to visit after asking what was good to visit earlier. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in this area.
