A Perfect First Skiing Experience in Italy Our stay at Hotel Scherlin in Ortisei was absolutely fantastic. The room was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean, offering an exceptional view of the surrounding mountains—truly breathtaking! The food was another highlight, with every meal crafted to perfection and full of flavor. What really stood out, though, was the warmth and hospitality of the staff. Everyone we interacted with was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The hotel’s location was ideal for skiing enthusiasts like us, providing convenient access to the slopes and making our first skiing experience in Italy seamless and memorable. All in all, our stay at Hotel Scherlin exceeded every expectation. We couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to skiing in Italy, and we’ll definitely be returning in the future!

Superb hotel run by a wonderful family who make you feel right at home. Superb room on level 3 overlooking St Ulrich. Great bar and fab food. Breakfast was superb. The speck was delicious. Dinner was excellent and lovely wines to accompany. Quick drive to all the slopes Outdoor pool was amazing after a day on the slopes. Jan 2026 is booked and look forward to seeing everyone again. Hotel Scherlin offers all you need for a perfect holiday. Breathtaking views to Dolomiti masif from comfortable rooms and restaurant, delicious food, impecable cleanliness, indoor and outdoor swimming pool with hot water, ski deposit and free parking. Ski slopes can easily be reached also by a free ski bus which stops in front of the hotel. Special thanks to a kind and very proffesional hotel staff who upgraded us with a spacious Family room and met all our needs and requirements. We will definitely come back!

We returned after one year and we are very happy to be back. The owners and the staff are extremely nice, they spoil you and make you feel like home. The breakfast is excelent and the dinner as well. There is a variety of antipasti, two main dishes and you choose the desert from a long list. Compliments to the chef! The rooms are big, very clean and with a beautiful view over Ortisei. The bus station is in front of the hotel. The spa area has an inside and an outside pool, both heated, dry and wet sauna, jacuzzi and gym. Thank you for an amazing week and we can’t wait to be back!

Well, what can I say?? From the moment we met the owner on reception on our first day until we left, I have nothing but praise for this excellent family run hotel. The lady on reception with her husband, the main chef, their daughter and son, plus another two waiters and a chef were the staff we saw. They are a superb team working like a well oiled machine together in their manning of the man,; the sharing of who covers what part of the restaurant etc. There are clearly other people involved such as cleaners - our room was spotless every day- and kitchen staff. We really enjoyed our eight day stay. They were all very kind in letting me try out my Italian that I have been learning even though they all speak very good English. That kind touch was much appreciated by me. We are not normally to be found staying for that length of time in one hotel: we tend to move after one or two nights but walking in the VAl de Gardena didn't lend itself to that sort of holiday. We were told about some of the best walks to do but the best advice was to use the local, and very regular and punctual bus, for free for guests in hotels in the area. We used our hire car once in the eight days!! We even went to Bolzano by bus on a rainy day. We had booked in on a bed and breakfast basis but for the first night, for ease, we thought we'd try the hotel's restaurant menu at 25euros a head. I have to say the antipasti buffet was delicious, immense, and thoroughly enjoyed as was the rest of that day's menu. So much so that there were only two nights when we didn't eat in the hotel. It is a very popular thing to do by most of its guests. The food is fresh and of excellent quality. The breakfast buffet is also very good too. We only used the pool once on a wet Sunday afternoon but that, like everything about this hotel, has been built to a very high standard. Of an evening we enjoyed a drink looking at the fab view before dinner. Thank you for a wonderful stay. P.S. We were in room 210 which was a great size with a large balcony, sofa and very comfy bed and a great view. We did ask for a top sheet as the duvet was too warm for the weather and this we were given without a problem.

I don't know what to start with! Rooms are very clean and spacious. Food is very good and the dinner is fantastic. All the people are very kind and you receive support for everything. The son owner spend more than 45 minutes with me after I have remain block on the ice area near the hotel. And he tried 3,4 things till we manage to get me out. The prices for the quality that they offer is unbeateble. Two swimming pools, one outside with warm other. Just great!
