Nice hotel close to the Waterfront pedestrian area. Nice hotel which has been an Industrial building as the name says which have been removed into a hotel and business area which is shared with the hotel. Rooms are big and nice. Toilet with a shower and big smart tv and espresso machine (nespresso type) in each room. Breakfast was very good and the coffee too so that you do not need to eat outside. The famous water front is in walking distance and the area is safe. Staff was friendly and helpful. They also offer a laundry service if needed. They close their main entrance gate at 19;00 every day and so you need to take the way around the building or parking garage to exit and enter after that time which isn’t a problem at all and makes it also safe at night in case you need to step out for a smoke. There a lot of restaurants in walking distance so that you don’t need a car. At least we did so! All in all a nice stay and good choice for a fair priced hotel room.

A quirky hotel in a business complex that has been designed into an old foundry. The decor and internal design are really good, but when it comes to the rooms ( that were very clean), there are issues. Ours was long and narrow. The huge TV jutted out of the wall at the end of the bed and you struggled to get past it without banging into it. Some aspects of room maintenance were lacking. The plumbing system is worth noting. Pressure is maintained by a series of (noisy) pumps. They warn you about this but the issue isn’t YOUR pumps, but those of nearby rooms. Access to the hotel is restricted after 7pm and this means you have to take a long detour round the back. Not good. On one morning we were woken by low frequency sounds from music. We think that this was from a gym class, also in the building. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is a public cafe, not a problem though, and the breakfasts were excellent. The WiFi is fast, near reception, but in the room we found it poor and erratic. Their idea for a quirky hotel is good, but some work needs to be done to improve standards.

The hotel is located very close to the waterfront (10 minutes on foot) and is therefore ideally located for visiting Cape Town. The staff was very friendly and the service at breakfast was attentive and benevolent. The room was very clean and the bathroom is modern. We would love to come back on our next South Africa vacation.

The rooms are great, although a bit on the small side, but for a single person they're perfect. I was there with a couple of friends for the Cape Town Cycle Tour, and the location was perfect right in the middle of the starting point and end point. It is a bit dodgy outside with homeless tents, but they lock up at night and there is security 24/7 so didn't have any issue

Not the best - filter by recent reviews. They have a bunch of obviously fake, recent 10/10 reviews on Booking (no details, generic names, all submitted on the same dates...) it's unfortunate that there is no way to report a property. Bummer.

The hotel vibe pretends to be a mix of modern facilities with the rough industrial style of the beginning of the 20th century but in reality, it is a dusty, dirty hotel with poor management and broken amenities. The first room that we got smelled like something died there and a corpse was still present but couldn't be found. The washing machine didn't work, there were coffee pods and no coffee machine. There was only one bath towel and a robe for both of us. After waiting for more than an hour to change rooms we got a SMOKING room for non-smokers. When I asked the lady if she could smell the smoke, she said no. This room had a coffee machine and no coffee. The washing machine didn't work as well. When I wanted to wash my hands I found no soup, shampoo, or body wash. I was running upstairs and downstairs the whole evening. On top of everything we discovered that we have to share the room with local cockroaches and wake up to a puddle of water on the bathroom floor every morning. The only good things are the location and breakfast.

The Old Foundry is a quirky hotel, full of interesting décor and very close the V &A waterfront. Our room was more like a suite, a bonus. La décoration est magnifique, les chambres sont très confortables et le personnel est absolument adorable : le staff de la réception, mais aussi du bar, tous sont extrêmement serviables et prévenants. Un grand merci ! MAIS ... Il y a un gros souci : la localisation n'est pas safe. En effet, dès 19h la grande grille du parking est fermée et, pour accéder à la porte d'entrée de l'hotel, il faut passer par une rue peu sûre. Un soir, le gardien du parking n'ayant pas voulu nous ouvrir après 19h, nous avons dû emprunter cette rue et nous avons été agressés. Heureusement, nous n'étions pas encore loin du parking, et nous sommes revenus en courant. Quand il a vu le danger, le garde nous a ouvert, mais c'est vraiment un problème, cette grille fermée aux client de l'hotel ! Quel dommage ! C'est le seul point négatif, mais il est important à savoir
