Dbc Hostel

I booked A&O for one night stay via Agoda. Initially I called the property to book directly but I was informed that they are not accepting direct booking! We family of four travelled from Bahrain and it was a long journey via Dubai. We reached at the hostel at around 10 PM, Mr Ken greeted us. When we told him of our prior reservation, he shocked us by checking that property is full and not a single vacant room is available! And that, Agoda is responsible for overbooking. When we contacted Agoda customer care, they excused and offered refund! Long distance travel and denied check-in, we all were very frustrated. Mr Ken was very helpful and suggested nearby hotel options but it was night time, national day celebrations and hotels were full to capacity. Thus we suffered for almost 3-4 hours. No one can understand our agony. Agoda caused us mental and physical trauma. It's almost 1 week, we didn't receive refund from Agoda. I would say Agoda is a big Scam and fraud. If property was fully booked, they didn't bother to inform us and left us wandering in a new country in midnight. MY SUGGESTION NEVER EVER BOOK VIA AGODA TO AGODA BEING CHEATED ! Finally, special thanks to Mr Ken and a female (Bar receptionist) ,who tried to help us alot and allowed us to sit there till we get alternative.

Clean rooms. Good facilities. I visited this hostel this month with my girlfriend. Staff were helpful on check in and we got a very nice clean spacious room. The hostel seemed to be still under renovations as there were still some building supplies around the place. There was only a cooker and a microwave for cooking services so think more investment is needed there but washing machine and dryer facilities were excellent. Very clean and very pleasant

The bar is way over priced , they only serve sweet (not dry) red wine and refuse to serve tap water to wash the revolting red wine down with. I came for the comedy night, the comedy is good, the bar is a major put off,if it's an indication of the general quality it doesn't bode well

The good stuff first: central location, low prices, clean, shampoo and soap in large dispensers, unexpected towels, reasonably comfortable mattresses. WiFi worked fine. Interesting historical building, all rooms open into a courtyard. To be improved : any drinking vessels at all in the guest kitchen. I ended up making my tea in the only muesli bowl, the rest was flat plates. Bring your own metal mugs. Warmer blankets in the wintertime would be good. We ended up covering existing ones with our coats so as not to freeze at night. And no, turning up the heating would not have helped much- it's air-conditioning in rooms with almost 4 metre high ceilings , which would not do much for a lower bunk bed. Our room for 6 was spacious enough, but it had a smell of old drains. As I said, old building, fixing that for real probably costs more than the entire structure is even worth. Reception was nice enough but didn't have any free maps of the town. People, Budapest Tourism knows that not everyone does everything with their phone and hands out enough free printed materials, no doubt. Please get some.

Rooms never cleaned, the breakfast staff very rude, good location though. I left my AirPods in the room and tried to contact reception with no luck, I have been tracking them on find my iPhone and they have been removed from the hostel (assuming by a member of staff). The main AO hostel contact number and email just say to get in touch with reception at the hostel.

An excellent budget choice downtown Budapest, wich includes a very clean room with tv, wifi, a/c, toiletries, breakfast and parking for an unbeatable price. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Fair options for breakfast.
