The Black Swan Hotel

We love Bruges and have visited and stayed in a different hotel each time. This was good value and they had a family room available. We arrived at 1am, communication with the hotel was excellent. We couldn’t find the pre booked car park so we used the Langstratt car park. On arrival we used to key code to get in and the envelope with our key was left at reception. Room was a little dated but so comfortable. The reception area and breakfast room were beautifully decorated for Christmas. The hotel is in a good location and we couldn’t fault our star. Breakfast was plentiful. Would definitely stay here again.

Our first visit since the rebrand from Anselmus. Refurbished room was very small, nothing like the photos and not one we had stayed in before. Previously, rooms had a bath, this just had a small shower with nowhere to hang wet towels, no hooks. The basin in the bathroom was new, looked stylish but it was impossible to wash hands or face without soaking the entire washing area as the single tap in the middle was not moveable and the off tap was at the back of the sink. It looked stylish but was badly designed. There was a kettle with no cups or coffee, so not much use. The wardrobe only had 2 hangers. There were workmen working on the front part of the hotel and there was quite a lot of dust. Reception were very helpful but no help with luggage up 2 flights of very steep, windy stairs. It was ok for a short break but we would probably look elsewhere if we go again.

Hotel the Black Swan is an beautiful redecorated hotel in an old building in the vividly centre of lovely Brugge. Nice rooms, friendly staff and nice breakfast. No restaurant and bar, which is no problem with dozens of nice bars and restaurants nearby.

We stayed here in a quadruple room for 4 adults. It is a lovely hotel, a lot of stairs so isn’t that accessible for those with limited mobility. We stayed here for the Christmas markets which was just a few minutes walk away. It is a safe hotel where the front doors get locked and you need a code (which you get at check in) to enter after a set time. Breakfast was nice, continental with toast, doughnuts and fruit. The rooms were big and clean. It was a quiet hotel too which was good after a full day at the Christmas markets. We would definitely recommend staying here and would return again if we were in the area again.

It was a nice hotel, the staff was excellent, the breakfast was good, the hotel was in good location,and the hotel was nicely decorated.. The staff in front desk,at the breakfast table and the house servicing staff all were very good.

Lovely little hotel close to the centre of Bruges (although everything is close to the centre of Bruges as it is rather small!). Good breakfast and nice rooms in an a period building! Friendly staff, only downside was there were a fair few mosquitoes that took a liking to us - there was evidence on the walls that previous guests had a similar issue!

We took a group of teenage girls. Friendly & welcoming. The only caution would be to point out that this is an older hotel with some steep & winding staircases. Our group absolutely loved it and it has wonderful character. The caution is for anyone unsteady on their feet or with mobility issues. The rooms are set up to allow for groups/families to share comfortably. This hotel is very close to everything, however, it is not noisy!

Great location. Arrived late and place was locked but found directions to another hotel to gain access. (complexity for our trip) room was lovely and warm. Building was old and charismatic but there is a stair free newer annexe. Breakfast was a buffet style- cold meats cheeses etc- delicious. Hosts were lovely and friendly. Fabulous spot for exploring Bruges

Good location, walking distance to everywhere in the historic centre of Bruges. Garage nearby. Beautiful old building. But! Our room was so hot it was literally impossible to sleep! Even when the temperature outside dropped to cool during night time the room stayed really hot like a sauna. They only provide a quite ineffective fan-machine that didn't really help. The room being on the ground level next to a street prevented us from keeping the windows open during nights. We told this to a receptionist lady who just said "yeah, it's an old building" without any kind of an apology. I get that it's hard or impossible to install A/C but they should at least get some modern and effective cooling devices that I know are on the market. And all of this coming from a person who loves warm room temperature should tell you how uncomfortable the temperature really was. The breakfast was a frustrating experience. We had to ask everything separately; the plates, the spoons, the coffee.. The waiter was busy doing something all the time so I don't blame her, but maybe just put enough of everything on the counters to begin with? Or get some extra help for the breakfast time. The parking garage was quite expensive (40€/ 2 nights) but that seems to be the standard.
