"A really good hostel with human staff! While check in is digital and there is a digital key for you room, there are staff around which is brilliant if you appreciate that important human element. Generous communal space to hang out in for chatting, reading or eating. Small communal kitchen but manageable. Clean communal areas. Comfortable private bedrooms but the (Ikea?) furniture is a bit wobbly. 7 min walk from the main train station/bahnhof. You can get the number 50 bus from the train station to the airport. And I think the bus is free with the Basel card (check before hand). Tram 3 from Saint Louis train station/gare brings you to the bahnhof too. There are a number of supermarkets near the hostel too including Co op."

"The access code was sent on time, but we were warned that check-in was at 2:30 PM. In fact, they only started cleaning the apartment at 2:30 PM, and we were standing on the stairs waiting for it to finish, which shortened our stay in Basel. The radiators in the apartment were practically cold, and it was early December. But our friends who lived on the second floor had hot radiators. We couldn't even plug the kettle into the outlet—the outlet didn't fit the plug. So, why offer guests an electric kettle? And most importantly, the code also included the apartment number, so we were lucky to live on the 5th floor of a building without an elevator, while one of our family members had surgery and could only get up to the 5th floor with great difficulty. We tried calling the landlord, but to no avail. Disappointed, to say the least :(("

"The room was very stuffy, although it got cold outside that day, unfortunately they didn't think to prepare the room by airing it out.. there is no air conditioning in the room (there was a fan, but it is uncomfortable to sleep with it at night, and you can't open the windows because they overlook a very noisy road), there is no kettle (you can go down to the cafe and drink tea and coffee for free). There was a mini fridge. I wouldn't stay there a second time in the summer. I don't recommend it."

"Transportation to the hotel is quite convenient, but the self-service check-in is a real pain. The hotel sends us an email asking us to fill out our information and check in. However, I booked several reservations, and for one of them, I couldn't find the email. On the day of check-in, we were told they couldn't check us in. Ultimately, Ctrip coordinated the process, which took half an hour and gave us several options. We were very satisfied with Ctrip's prompt handling and the outcome."
