Hostal Centric

Just returned from 3 night stay at Hostal Centric. Very smart accommodation, quality furniture, bed and shower room. Quiet location. Very friendly staff on reception from whom we got a kettle (5 Euro refundable deposit) and bottle opener. A couple of nice sitting areas one with coffee machine and selection of teas. No restaurant on site but was given great recommendations for local area. Good value, great area and would definitely recommend.

Enjoyed my room! Got a room with four beds for myself and group of friends, and it ended up working very well. Beds were comfortable and clean, and the desk service was friendly and gave good recommendations for food in the area. Decent area, close to a metric stop. Only complaint is that you are not allowed to bring the room key out of the hotel, you need to speak to the receptionist to get your key every time you enter the hotel.

I think it is fair to start with the positive- it is clean. That being said, I did not enjoy my stay in the hotel. And you can keep reading as it gets ridiculous at the end. So, the AC was making some awkward noises all the time and for someone who sleeps light this is very bad. I thought the hotel was quiet but it was actually empty. The moment there were people on our floor and above I could hear them walk and talk. And here comes the funny part- from day one there was this guy Antonio at reception who tried to smile and look kind but was actually rude and frankly I did not enjoy interacting with him and tried not to. There is 1 key for each room and they want it returned at reception before leaving for a walk. Ok, but this key is the one you turn the electricity with (the card attached to it). This was the coldest week in Barcelona this season and I want to come back to a warm room. I asked Antonio for a workaround and got: We save energy and if you are not in the room AC will not work (what? Am I paying for this room or yes?) One of the days I needed a washing machine for a blouse and asked if they will help me out (it was no problem to pay) again, our “friend” sent me to a public washing service. I go downstairs and ask for water for the kettle in the lobby and he says: stairs are wet and water is upstairs you will have to wait. The thing is, it turns out he could have offered a kettle for our room, because we can have one for the entire stay (a fact I missed) but he did not offer one and made me wait for water. And here comes the situation where he flipped: we go out and ask his colleague at reception to get our room cleaned and towels changed. It turns out we forgot the do not disturb sign on the door. We come back, see no one cleaned and I asked Antonio for it to be done. He flips at me at this point, telling me that I have to bring him the towels and get new ones. Up until this point the only thing I did is have a very annoyed look on my face but I did not say a word, did not raise my voice or anything. And this dude decides it is a good idea to tell me: “You have a very bad face, I don’t have to put up with your bad face (repeated “bad face” like 5 times) and that I have to be kinder to him! I just turned around and left. Again not saying a word. He did not apologize because he is obviously some entitled guy who does not realize that even if you don’t like a client, you are at work and don’t have the right to act like that. But hey, when you just work somewhere you don’t realize this is no way of doing business.

Great Central hostal. Don't be put off by the word hostal. It was basically a hotel that didn't serve food. We (2 people) stayed for 3 nights in a twin room. As er previous reviews,room wasn't large but it was fine. Lovely little balcony, great air con, comfy beds, great bathroom and shower. Staff on reception were really friendly and helpful,giving us tips on places to go and see or eat. Even giving us plasters when needed for a blister! Very easy to get to on airport bus and then easy to get everywhere mainly by walking. 15 mins to las rambla, 18 mins to casa batllo, 5 mins to aldi for morning pastries. Also 15 mins to Tosca del carme, which was the best food we ate in barcelona.

Barcelona was the first stop on our three-week trip to Spain, and Hostal Centric was a convenient start to our travels. Access from the airport was very easy via the Aeropuerto bus, which cost 6€ per person. The bus travels along the Gran Via and we got off at the Urgell stop, with a 10-minute walk to Hostal Centric. Our room did not have a view, being at the back of the hotel, but on the other hand it was very quiet. It was about a 25-minute walk across the city centre to the Palau de Musica. Turning left as you leave the hostal, you’ll find a good little café called “Lido” about a block away, where we went for breakfast. When we left Barcelona, the taxi to the train station was 10€. The room itself was small and spartan, but clean and satisfactory for our needs. I noted that the hostal is set up well for anyone who has mobility issues, with a reliable lift, a big open shower, bathroom grab bars, etc). Sometimes the desk staff was great, sometimes indifferent. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend.

Ótimo custo benefício! Vale a pena! Fechamos de última hora, já conhecíamos a cidade mas ele não perde nada para um hotel 3, 4 estrelas. É simples, limpo, cheiroso, muitíssimo bem localizado, fizemos tudo a pé e quem merece parabéns é o recepcionista Antonio, profissional incrível, sempre sorrindo, carismático, quer ajudar. Amamos e voltaremos sem dúvidas!

Muy buena experiencia en el Hostal, nos ayudaron en todo momento con recuperar las maletas que no llegaron del vuelo de KLM, especialmente el recepcionista que le toco turno en la tarde. También nos orientaron a llegar a lugares turístico. La estación del Metro esta muy cerca, lugares para desayunar, aunque también el hostal tiene maquinas dispensadoras. Lo recomiendo

Un super hôtel, très confortable. L’accueil est très chaleureuse. Nous avons beaucoup aimé les chambres et le calme qui y règne. L’accessibilité du métro depuis l’hôtel est très pratique. Dormir dans cet hôtel après la visite de la magnifique ville de Barcelone est parfait. Pour les petits déjeuners, des restaurants juste à côté sont très pratiques. Je recommande !

Prima volta a Barcellona,abbiamo soggiornato per 3 notti in 3, quartiere sant Antoni, in camera tripla rimodernata completamente nuova, molto comoda e spaziosa. Letti comodissimi, doppi cuscini, scrivania con bollitore e tazze con selezione di the. Bagno ampio, doccia enorme dotata di dispenser con shampoo, bagno schiuma e balsamo per capelli, porta finestra con balcone, sia in camera che in bagno, quindi tutto molto luminoso. Nel bagno ci starebbe pure il bidet come spazio. Pulizie quotidiane, cambio asciugamani ogni 2 giorni, asciugamani morbidissimi. Sicurezza massima, reception aperta h24 ti aprono loro le porte sia in entrata che in uscita, ti chiedono ad ogni ingresso numero della stanza e cognome per conferma. Piccolo problema all arrivo risolto prontamente dalla reception. Receptionist molto gentili e disponibili, si arrangiano bene anche con l italiano, ti spiegano mappa della città alla mano cosa visitare. Piccola hall all ingresso con tavolini, sedie, computer, macchinette di bibite e cibi confezionati, e bollitore con selezione di the gratuiti. La posizione....fantastica!! Da lì arrivi ovunque anche a piedi, a noi piace camminare, abbiamo usato pochissimi mezzi. Alle spalle c e il mercato di Sant Antoni e con una bella camminata arrivi alla magnifica plaza de espanya. A pochi passi c e il quartiere Raval, città vecchia, molto molto interessante da vedere anche se mal nominato, ma da non perdere, sei vicino a plaza catalunya e alla rambla, a pochi passi da metro, pullman, pullman per l aeroporto. Vicinissimo a locali, birrerie, pub, ristoranti. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Si merita le 3 stelle. Ci ritornerei!
