"My husband and I rented Compton House for the August Bank Holiday weekend, Friday to Monday with 10 of our friends and two dogs for my 50th Birthday. The house is beautiful with a stunning back garden. All the rooms were beautifully laid out and comfortable and there are lots of original artefacts throughout the house. It has a very lived in, comfortable feel. All my interactions with Patricia, the owner, were great. She was very responsive and answered all my questions and it was lovely to meet her when we arrived. We hired a private chef for Saturday night and had dinner in the formal dining room which just added to the 'Downton Abbey' effect. Axbridge town is just a short 10 min walk with a couple of pubs and local shop. There are a couple of other pubs a short walk in the opposite direction. Overall we had a lovely weekend and the weather was perfect. "
