Our stay at the Arcadia Hotel was truly idyllic and met our expectations. This resort is located on a beautiful, private island called Pandanan, opposite Timba Timba Island. Its location is wonderful. The hotel's facilities and decor are very beautiful, luxurious and white. It has a very large infinity pool where you can enjoy the view of Timba Timba Island. We've read some negative comments about the buffet, but for us, it was truly incredible for its variety and quality. Even more so considering the hotel is on a remote island. The kitchen staff, and especially the cook, is a talented and very pleasant gentleman. Additionally, the stay includes a day trip to an island, snorkeling, and a boat ride to watch the sunset. The only negative point I consider is that the island's shores are littered with bottles and other plastic products, which is truly shocking and sad. I think whether the trash comes from another island or not, they should definitely take this into account and have the staff clean up the beach. Thank you very much!

It takes about 20 minutes to get there from the pier. You can go directly into the sea from the room. The water is very clear. You can see the sea as soon as you open the French window. You can also see starfish and fish around the water house, and small crabs on the wooden stairs. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included, and there are afternoon tea snacks in the afternoon. There are seafood, crabs, squids, shrimps and some blanched vegetables every night. The stay experience is not bad. Since it happened to be Christmas, I also caught up with the hotel's fireworks celebration! It is recommended to order deep diving directly from the store. The accompanying crew not only has good photography skills, but also gives deep diving photos and videos! ! Love it!

We had a perfect time at Eaglebay Retreat. It’s truly an undisturbed paradise. You have an entire house and hundreds of meters of coastline all to yourself. Every morning, you can wake up in the sunshine and decide whether to go snorkeling or just relax in the sun—you have the choice. The sunsets were always perfect, and experiencing them on a paddleboard is far better than being in a crowded place like KK. At the same time, the retreat offers a wide range of activities that are both rich and reasonably priced—paddleboarding, jet skiing, kayaking, and more, so you’ll never feel bored. During our stay, Arlyn and h is family provided us with everything we needed: they inflated our paddleboards, helped us arrange sea activities, climbed trees to pick coconuts for us, and prepared delicious meals. Whenever we needed them, they were always available, without intruding on our privacy. Their presence was always perfectly balanced. I would also like to thank Faizal, who did a lot of work before our arrival, and Jamri, the kind lady who helped us recover our lost Apple Pencil during our stay. She assisted in finding it, came up with several ways to return it (considering Eaglebay Retreat’s remote location), and finally delivered it to my friend personally, asking for nothing in return. Your kindness will be remembered. Yes, I think we would definitely recommend this place to our friends, and we will visit Eaglebay again in the future.

The boss upgraded me to a sea view room facing the sea. You can snorkel on the beach at the door. There are schools of fish, starfish and small tropical fish. I caught 3 fish for the first time in my life. Nice. One island and one hotel. I think the scenery is very beautiful. Longtail Beach and Jelly Sea. I played banana boat and glass boat for free. At night, the staff took me to see crabs and look for blue eyes. The children liked it very much. The boss is Chinese and arranged it very well. From picking us up at the airport to sending us back to the airport, he also sent us to Semporna town for a walk. We stayed for two nights and free pick-up. The meals were also very good. Every meal was seafood, chicken, meat and vegetables. There was a good combination. There was also watermelon. The staff was also very enthusiastic. The room standard was OK. There was definitely a gap with star hotels, but the scenery and entertainment could make up for it. The vacation was very good. It is highly recommended!

The Gaya is a beautiful hotel, in a beautiful location and the staff are all lovely. The buffet is quite good with a variety of options. The seafood BBQ is delicious!! You have to book the spa and activities 2-3 days in advance to secure a spot. I recommend booking the spa before arrival. If you are a hungry person the all inclusive option may be best as the food at the pool restaurant is soso (in our opinion). Would be lovely to include a reusable beach bag in the rooms.

Great resort area, well thought out activities and facilities . However, management should include more board games like scrabble etc. Lots of guests during our stay and sometimes we could not get to play games we wanted. I mean it’s easy and simple stuff to have more board games. Otherwise the food was great. The activities were good but pricier. Not a whole lot of participation. A pity. Oh, I should not miss out- the sunsets were picture perfect..

The room is dimly lit, but the facilities are OK. The balcony is great. There are many tourists during the May Day holiday, so the shuttle bus is very slow. The signal is indeed not good, haha, but the scenery is worth it. The deep dive costs 520 MYR per person, the instructor leads two, and we saw six turtles!!! The water quality and experience are a lifelong regret!!

I am a family of three, and I brought two little girls from my relatives. I booked a standard room and a triple room. The triple room is actually the kind with an extra bed. The price is more than 4,500 per night, which is actually a bit expensive, but there was no way to communicate when booking, so I had to book it this way. From email communication to airport pick-up to the final airport drop-off, it was actually very smooth, which shows that the tourism service of this route is very mature. If Chinese people want to travel to the island of Semporna, they can rest assured. It takes less than an hour by boat from Semporna Pier. After arriving, we are taken to the restaurant for lunch. There are not many varieties of three meals a day, and they are relatively simple. The service staff are very friendly. Outside the wall of the standard room we stayed in is the house of local residents. As long as you stand on the plank road from the pier to the hotel for a while, there will be local people rowing boats to sell seafood and coconuts to sell. Many Chinese tourists will buy seafood to the restaurant for processing. It is very interesting to bargain, which is also an experience. There are also local children playing on the beach, but some will ask tourists for money, and some are very simple. I bravely entered the village and walked around. It was really dirty and smelly, haha! There are also very famous water houses on the island, but they are not together with this resort. You have to walk a little bit, and there is a fee to enter. Let's talk about the sea next to the resort. It is really beautiful. Although the beach is very dirty and there are all kinds of garbage, the sea is really beautiful. You can see the clear bottom by the beach. There are starfish, corals, various small fish, and a veritable jelly sea. We did not sign up for a sea tour to other places. We asked and it was about 65 Malaysian ringgits per person. We stayed for 2 days. We snorkeled at the pier of the resort. The staff was very good. We said we wanted to see turtles, so we dragged a lifebuoy to take us to the place where we could see sea ghosts (actually the water house). To be honest, the quality of tourism practitioners is much better than that of our country. If you don't have high requirements, or are a beginner snorkeler, snorkeling at the pier is actually enough. It doesn't matter if you can't swim. Life jackets, lifebuoys, and responsible staff will satisfy your yearning for colorful underwater time.

Fabulous resort with excellent water quality and beach. Plenty of personal space. Boat transfer extremely disorganised - changed multiple times via email and it was still wrong plus delayed. Definitely stay for more than 1 night, as you only arrive at the island around 4pm, and need to check out around noon with boat departing by 1pm Some of the paid activities weren’t available, which was a shame. Prices for paid activities very reasonable.

i stay in the room with private bathroom, thus cannot speak for those who stay in the hut. This retreat is simple and a beautiful place to watch sunset. around 2H journey to tip of kudat. choices of food quite limited though but i enjoy my stay here nevertheless. special appreciation to the receptions on both check in day and check out day as they were both helpful and accomodating, hope this place would continue to flourish.

GGuest UserI visited the hotel with my parents, my wife and my daughter. We stayed for four nights, checking in on 3rd May and checked out on the 7th. This is actually my second time visiting this hotel, the first time being 30 years ago, again with my parents. I had great memories as a kid so I was looking forward to this trip. The First night was great, had dinner at Coco Joe's and rested after a long trip. The Second day was fantastic, breakfast and dinner and Cafe Tutu, met a lovely dining lady named Rohana. During the day, we enjoyed the great activities of the Leisure Center. Friendly staff from there made the experience children friendly. And the icing of the dessert - the sunset parade, Jamie loves it. Housekeeping did a surprise heartwarming job, covering the lion doll of my daughter with a little towel on the pillow, very cute and thoughtful move. The Third Day we went out to town so didn't stay much time in the hotel. The Fourth Day, was quite disappointing to be honest. Housekeeping did not arrive in the morning when we were out playing at the pool. I understand as there are many rooms to take care of. We went back to the room to rest between 2-4pm, switch on the ”Do not disturb” button, and somehow housekeeping team arrived so they put a card to say they could not clean as we put up the do not disturb button. Fair enough, but again, there was five hours in the morning which they could clean the room. Leaving the room again at 4pm for activities, I called service center for housekeeping, switched off the ”Do not disturb” button and went out. We returned at 7:45pm, still there was no housekeeping. Frustrated, I called the service center again requesting for housekeeping, they replied they will check and follow up with housekeeping. Half an hour later, still no one turned up. Extremely irritated, I called service center for housekeeping again. This time, housekeeping finally arrived but our whole family were waiting for clean towels to have shower. VERY disappointing with the effecitivness of housekeeping and service center on this incident. On that very same day, I discovered a big crockcroach in the toilet, so I do have a big quetion mark on the housekeeping of this hotel. The day was worsen when we had dinner at Coco Joe's, where we wait for nearly an hour (from 6pm to 6:53pm) before we get all our food served. I did complain it to the manager when he came by, which he did apologise and waived our dining fee. Despite my disgrunt towards the long waiting time of the dishes, I would like to give credit on the manager (I think his name is Mr Kan?) in terms of how he managed the complaint. Overall, the experience is mixed. With friendly staff at leisure center + Cafe Tutu, good food but unreasonably long waiting time at Coco Joe's, and disappointing housekeeping after the heartwarming performance on the second day. The hardware of the hotel is great (view, pool design, restaurant seating) but our experience was mainly affected by the staff. On this ocassions, I would like to give commendation to the following staff: Rohana, Majid (both from Cafe Tutu), all staff from Leisure Centre (especially the two ladies and two gentleman hosting water polo and volleyball respectively), and Kan from Coco Joe's on complaint management. Please keep up on the good work you already have, and work hard on things that requires improvement:)

GGuest UserMy partner and I just had three nights in a Palm Villa at Gayana Marine Resort! What a place to stay…. Simply amazing! Right from the start everything was perfect. We arrived at the ferry and the staff were really helpful. The ferry left on time and took less than 30 mins. On arrival we had cold towels and a drink. Everything was fully explained by the staff and we were taken to our room about 30 minutes early. The Palm Villa was gorgeous!!! If you can spend a little more and have this room it’s worth it!! I was speechless when I walked in. Super clean and tidy! The online photos do not do this resort justice!! We ate at the Macac Restaurant. There was lots to choose from on the menu and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Breakfast is included and everything was made fresh to order. There was also a buffet which had pastries, fruit, cereal and lots more! We made use of the water sports which are also included. We used the kayaks and paddle boards. Lots available and you just turn up and ask, no need to book! Every single member of staff was lovely!! Everyone greets you, is very polite and they can’t do enough to help. Their English was impressive! We had only booked two nights but loved it so much we extended our stay!!! I highly recommend this place and hope the management see this review to pass on to staff. Thank you. Tasha & Chris.

GGuest UserNice hotel with a very good location. Close to Gaya street where there are many eateries and where the wkend market is located. Next to the iconic round about and the sea front. The hotel may have been look dated, but the rooms looks to have been refurbished since last stayed here. Rooms is spacious and bed is comfortable. No issue with cleanliness. Didn't use any of the facilities as we just stayed a night before heading out to KK park. Good value for money.

LLea J.First, all the check in counters were open but still the check in queue was long. I was queued for almost 1 hour just to check in. Need to better system in check-in. Second, hotel policies stated no outside food. If guest order food outside, food rider only able to delivered until guardhouse and guest need to walk out and take the food themselves. To minimize the hassle, we opt for in-room dining for our 2 nights stay. First night was good. Second night some of the menu are OOS such as pizza and even mushroom soup. Third, another incident on our 2nd night, fire alarm was rang on 12+am. Lift was unable to use as well and fire symbol was shown on the lift panel. Guests started panicked and going down using stairs. Me and my family (along with my 7months pregnant sister) decided to go down to lobby using stairs, since there are no staff was seen to inform us what has happened. Once we reached lobby, only there is a staff informed is a false alarm. For this kind of situation, staff should be act faster since its related with safety. Other than that, we've enjoyed the view from our room, the facilities that are offered. We're enjoyed the pizza on our first night, thats why we want to repeat on 2nd night and too bad its not available. Sutera Harbour is one of the well known resort in Kota Kinabalu, a place to catch good sunset view, and I hope they're able to improve their services and better safety/security.

Lliberte2016First & foremost, biggest compliments to the housekeeping team! We arrived in our villa around 2pm, went out around 4, and only returned at night after dinner to find: a mosquito coiled lit outside our door, bed has been made, coffee cups washed, rubbish bin cleared, how thoughtful! The sight of the sea from the resort was superb, enhanced by the good weather. The welcome drink of calamansi juice with plum, aka Kitchai Ping as it’s known locally, was as good as my mom’s. We initially intended to have the weekend hi-tea, but apparently it had to be pre-booked at least a day before. Thanks to that we got to enjoy happy hour instead, before having the weekend BBQ dinner that we managed to book a slot upon arrival. Bartender gave us extra kicks in our cocktails, thank you for taking our relaxation up a notch! However we seemed to be unlucky with food serving. We booked for dinner at 6 but our happy hour session somehow made some miscommunications and delay. Food was good and a plenty, though we did notice satays were missing, but we were well fed. Breakfast order was also somewhat mixed up, kitchen must be overwhelmed with many guests, but we got what we wanted in the end. Overall we are happy with our stay. We didn’t manage to explore the trails, perhaps we may return for a day trip in the future, and have that weekend hi-tea we missed.

HHohlOne of the most beautiful hotel environments I have ever experienced, and unlike the nearby Shangri-La, it is built directly on the beach. The restaurants are okay, but it’s the beautiful architecture of the villas and the garden full of flowers, birds, monkeys, and squirrels that amazed us so much. Highly recommended and a great price/quality ratio!

BBenjamin Sch.The location was great and the staff super friendly. A part of the beach was reserved for hotel guests and was not overcrowded. The team was trying its best to pick up all plastic in the morning from the beach but unfortunately during the day more was coming. People should take more care themselves. You can go snorkeling at the beach but to arrive the corals you need to wait for the tide and have to be a good swimmer. Then it’s beautiful out there. The breakfast was great and a good combination between buffet and menu. Overall we can recommend it for 2 nights. Don’t forget your mosquito repellent and bites relief. We saw several Gerrys;) - beautiful creatures.
