The location is ideal in Buxton as it’s a short drive down to Edale Valley Loads of good restaurants nearby

Hotel is in a lovely spot within walking distance to everything you need. However, the rooms are in need of major refurbishment and we’re poor! The spa facility you have to pay extra for and then told that the steam room was out of order, the ladies changing room was closed and there was no towels as they hadn’t had a delivery. The pool is definitely not heated and was freezing. Wouldn’t stay again for the price.

Lovely place to stay. Massive inside. Helpful staff. It was so good that we booked another night. The Pool is £4.

We went for the twin bed room very noise the beds were very hard so was the pillows. Only one prober plug socket in the bedroom. There was a iron n ironing board n a hairdryer in the room. The hotel was very short staffed No pianist in the hotel. We booked to stay 3 nights and came home on the second day due to not sleeping. The cleaners didn’t come in to empty bins or replace coffee sugars milk or the toilet roll had to go to reception n ask for more which was given without hesitation but would of preferred not to have go down n ask. Everywhere in hotel was very clean n the staff that was there were very friendly but definitely won’t be going back

Felt it was tired. Only one on reception so had to wait.had to.plug kettle in on the floor as lead was too short. Staff were friendly but needs a renovation. Great location. However...we only paid £49 so bargain

Einst grandioses Hotel, jetzt in die Jahre gekommen. Teppichboden überall, kein Telefon im Zimmer, Zugang zum Zimmer über zahlreiche Treppen. Harry Potter Atmosphäre. Zimmerkarten funktionieren oft nicht also hin und her zur Reception. Die Damen an der Rezeption neutral mit ten

位於巴克斯頓,是一幢有着多年歷史的老建築,門前還有大片的草坪,中庭高大,很有氣派。早餐也不錯。輸入汽車牌照號可免費停車。房間較小,但走廊卻很寬敞,有點浪費了。

非常一般的酒店,像是假的4星級,不僅房間服務都低於三星水平,房間內wifi居然要收費,7磅一天。不使用付費wifi的話房間內幾乎沒有信號,經常無法連接到網絡。訂房時請加上wifi charge再考慮價格。前台衹有一個人,check-in排長隊,房內沒有電話,根據房間內提供的電話號碼聯繫前台永遠沒人接。且酒店衹有主樓一部老電梯,很多房間在背後副樓,電梯形同虛設需要自己搬行李上窄樓梯,訂房前請三思。

Public rooms very nicely decorated, bedroom (116) had its main decor revamped but was let down by some 'shabby' fitments. Main 'gripes' were that the evening meal menu outside the dining room bore no resemblence to the food on offer inside! Although the breakfast buffet was very good. Also, not happy about having to pay for car parking and wi-fi in rooms...

The building is fantastic, common areas are well maintained, historic but that is where it ends. My room was poor, did not feel clean or comfortable. Ill fitting furniture, old and tired decor, aging carpet, major creaking floorboards, mixer shower. Chargeable parking even though i was a paying guest, Chargeable Internet, breakfast ok but lacked choice. Quite a disappointing stay overall. I wont be back dont think the cost justifys the service and condition of the property. Making a living from the history of the building for some guests will appeal.

The room small window was adjacent brick pillar overlooking the rubbish bins and skips , I have dyslexia and found it impossible to try get to the room my partner had to come and get me as I got lost there were so many corridors to get through and door it was quite some distance from the lift and then we had to climb stairs to eventually get to where we were staying it was horrendous and scary , we asked to change rooms so the put us a floor up higher closer to a lift but again no window to look through!! It was a bathroom window??? I’ve never experienced anything like this I felt really enclosed and claustrophobic I’m 66 yrs old pensioner and did not think we would be treated in this way they didn’t help us with our luggage , I have a hidden disability and found the whole experience upsetting, however I would like to end on a positive note the young lady in the bar was a lovely hard worker who was so polite I’m just really upset as to the way we were treated my husband had my case and his and stumbled and hurt himself when we were having to move out our luggage to the other room

After a long day, you don't expect the have to go to your third floor room 3 times and then a fourth with the on duty staff in order to gain access. On the first occasion I was asked if I placed the card next to my phone (I didn't). After the third try (which involves carrying your luggage up and down because you can't just leave your cases in the hallway) I went down and asked to see the manager. The girl on the desk got the master card and came to the room to unlock it then said I would have to use that one from now on. Not once did she apologise for the inconvenience. During my 2 day stay, I asked 3 other guests if they had the same problem and they said yes. On departure I was chatting to a gentleman who told me he comes here every month and everything he has this problem. So, the hotel obviously know about it on a daily basis yet give the impression yours must be a one off. The most annoying thing though is the lack of apology or concern. One day, someone is going to be desperate to get to the toilet in their room and end up doing it on the carpet outside their door. Would I do this if caught short? Well, put it this way . . . I've paid for my room and it's facilities and if I can't use them, what do you think?

This is the second time I have stayed here and I like it. It has obviously been a grand place in the past and it retains some nice features. With a building like this it is difficult not to notice some little things that need attention. However I have had two of the best nights sleep ever when staying here. The bed was super comfortable and massive. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is extra but that wasn't a big deal and I have paid more for less in other places.
