Dongnimmun Arch (Independence Gate)

Although many Koreans have heard that they have misunderstood it, it was not independence from Japan, but was established to commemorate China's independence. Although the shape is made to mimic the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, it is smaller than expected, and is so walkable through the gates because of the park.

I knew how cruel Japanese militarism was, but by visiting this museum, I greatly deepened my impression, the overall atmosphere of the museum is very gloomy and scary! Although the museum has not been very good, the West Gate Park is a very good place overall: dense trees, fresh air, beautiful environment, weekdays here with parents-in-law, are leisurely sunbathing or some slow sports (of course no square dance), A leisurely scene. When you go in the opposite direction, the end is the independent door. The scenery around the independent door is very beautiful, it is definitely a great place for photography friends, look at the picture! Interestingly, when I visited, I always thought that the Independence Gate was built to celebrate South Korea’s defeat of the Japanese ghosts and regain national independence, but when I came back to check the information, I found that this was not the case. The predecessor of the Independence Gate was originally Yingenmen, originally built by North Korea in response to the Ming Dynasty envoy. Later, at the end of the 19th century, the Qing Dynasty was forced to abandon its metropolitan status against North Korea due to losing the Jiawu War and signing the Maguan Treaty. In order to celebrate the secession from China's metropolitan rule, the South Koreans changed Yingenmen to an independent gate, and invited foreign architects to redesign and build. It was built to look like we saw today.

Located at the entrance of Seodaemun Park, along with Seodaemun Independence Park, it has now emerged as a local landmark

역사의 발자취 독립문.. 위로는 서대문 형무소가 있고 길건너 영천시장에서는 맛있는 먹거리들이 가득하다.아쉽게도 도시개발정책으로 서대문 형무소에 수감중이던 가족들을 돕던 거주지는 이제 아파트들이 들어서있다.

独立门(독립문)是位于韩国首尔独立公园里面的一座建筑，原用于迎接外国使节的迎恩门旁边, 迎恩门是国王亲自迎接中国使节的地方。1897年起, 向长时间威胁中国和韩国的日本、俄罗斯宣告韩国的独立。修建独立门的费用是全体国民捐献的。现在独立门前只剩下迎恩门两个门柱了，但仍能让人想象出当时样子。门高14.28米，宽11.48米，由1850块花岗岩建造而成，参考法国巴黎的凯旋门为蓝本。门于1979年搬迁到现时的位置，位于原来位置的西北70米处。
