Sumiyoshi Jinja

The Shrine has been admired by the people since ancient times as a patron of maritime security and safe travel. There are several small shrines in the shrine, where the Dragon Shrine, the god of commerce, entertainment and learning, is particularly popular.

As the birthplace of the Japanese shrine, the Fukuoka Prefecture has a long history and is well known. Our company is an engishiki naisha (a shrine recorded in a book created in ９０１～９２３ in the Engi era), and is counted as one of the seven Sumiyoshi shrines nationwide. It is one of the oldest shrines that was founded and prayed by Kennai no Sukune, and was revered as the best shrine in Tohoku. The main shrine, which was rebuilt in the year of Kanei １８ (AD １６４１), was designated as an important cultural property of the prefecture in the year of Showa ３３.
