My wife and I stayed at Burn How for 4 nights. Immediately we found the staff most welcoming and friendly. The pleasant atmosphere was maintained at breakfast throughout our stay. The spacious room- with everything you might need- was part of a block of chalets set romantically amongst some beautiful trees. Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again.

We had one overnight stay while traveling South. Hotel was easy to find with use of Google maps. Plenty on site parking. Efficient check-in. Room was compact, but comfortable. Nice hot shower. Towels were provided. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which felt a bit more like a pub with football on TV and a pool table. Not everything on the menu was available to order; although salmon and burger were lovely and plentiful. The waiter was very helpful. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, as we brought our own. Hotel popular with white van drivers.

Mainly tinned fruit with apple and yoghurt. Ubiquitous coffee machine…. Instant is better .. but they are all doing it. Juice and fresh milk on offer. Small selection of cereals. My room was cheap - noisy outside… the car park had replacement coach services… but worst of the swearing and shouting stopped around 1.00am. Hotel was warm and dry. A small lift for one with luggage. Staff were very kind - left my luggage in a locked room while I went to get my hire car. At half the price of similar low-facilities hotels I was happy enough. Might do without breakfast in future and go to Costa.

There had been heavy snowfall so things were a bit up in the air with whether we would be coming or not due to road closures but the staff were brilliant. Thankfully we did get to come for the night and we’d booked the spa the following day. It is one of the best spas I have been to. The views are stunning. The hotel itself is really lovely, fantastic location, extremely clean and all the staff were super friendly. Will definitely be coming to stay again and can’t recommend enough for a relaxing break.

£200 for a basic room for one night was a bit on the pricey side for me, however it was nice all the same. A few of the photos of the basic room are misleading. The photos show a four post double bed which is not the case. We found out later this is actually an executive room despite it being labeled basic. We found out that the hotel location is accessible by bus from Oxenholme train station (despite being told the opposite) and has a great view of beautiful fields. Food in the hotel is good but expensive... My eyes nearly popped out their sockets when I saw the £8.00 charge just for the tiniest amount of table bread. I'd say this was probably the reason the restaurant was empty despite being told we need to book a table due to its popularity. Swimming pool and steam room are average for the price. Staff are friendly and changed our room to a double bed room free of charge after mistakenly putting us in a twin bedroom.

The room is very stylish. Our room was fine except for the street which was noisy. I especially recommend breakfast. You need to book with the front desk before 6pm the night before. It is freshly made in the morning and very delicious! You can't miss it. The hotel is in a good location, walking distance to the train station and Bowness.

If you have children staying with you, you must tell the hotel in advance that the children need to charge a fee of £28.50/piece/night! This fee includes breakfast and extra bed. If it is not stated in advance, the fee will still be charged, but there will be no extra bed! Expresso capsule coffee is provided free of charge in the room, which is my favorite. The hotel is located in a small town with a very beautiful surrounding. It is very comfortable to walk around the hotel in the morning. The hotel rooms are also very beautiful and well-planned. The hotel interior is looking rather tired, the corridors are stark and our room while spacious was unattractive. The bathroom was cramped and poorly designed. It was clean and tidy and the staff do the best they can with difficult facilities and surroundings.
