Red lantern Inn gives the best service among all the hotels I’d stayed so far in China. The owner and his wife picked me up from the Train station 20 min away. The location is superb, inside the old city and located just 5 min walk from the North Gate. The Mansion is so beautiful and well kept for hundreds years old building unless you like everything new or modern. The best part is Xiao Lei, the sweet and polite inn keeper who’s extremely helpful although we had to use Google translator to communicate. He goes all out of his ways to do anything to make your stay comfortable and your visit enjoyable. He cannot explain how to but the ticket for the Old city, so he walks with me to the office. He also drives an electric truck to deliver my luggages to the north gate and call the taxi for me to the airport. I’ll definitely come back to stay here if I come visit Pingyaogucheng again. I completely recommend this inn to everyone.

The hotel is right in the middle of the ancient city, which is great for walking around. Keep in mind you will need to take your luggage from the west gate to the hotel by foot as the taxis can't enter and the hotel is in a pedestrian street. The rooms have a glass wall to the courtyard that lets you take in the views and you can draw the curtains close for more privacy. We had a corner room and it was very comfortable. Breakfast had few options, but it was very tasty. The bathroom needed a new curtain that didn't smell, but that is our only complaint and likely an oversight. All in all a great place to stay when visiting Pingyao ancient city.

My stay at Pingyao Juhongyuan Mansion (Part 2) was truly memorable. The hotel’s cleanliness and hygiene were impeccable, creating a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, providing excellent service throughout our visit. The private courtyard was beautifully maintained, adding to the charm of the property. One of the standout features was the hotel’s thoughtful arrangement of transportation services, including a dedicated car for pickups and drop-offs. The rooms were fully equipped with smart technology, ensuring a modern and convenient stay.

I really enjoyed my Stay at the Xianya Elswhere Hotel. When I arrived I was greeted warmly by the staff and they immediately helped me to plan my weekend (must sees and restaurants to try). The room was very nice and clean and all the facilities were great! I left early in the morning and the staff helped me to arrange a ride to the train station, really amazing service! Would recommend this place to everyone!

Didn't expect this very niche and grande hotel in a city that many non-Chinese traveller might have not ever heard before. The room is huge, clean, modern yet classy. The breakfast area is the champion, with pools surrounding the dining area, very good spot for taking social media contents. Location is very easy to find, right in the main road that connects to the old town of Datong. Parking spot is widely available in the basement.

the hotel is only 20mins travel from the airport which is wonderful for my business trip because i need to go to my customer located nearby. the services and facilities are also better than other local hotel. it is my third time staying this hotel, will definitely choose the same hotel on my next trips.

This hotel was really good! It was in a smaller alley, so not alot of noise, close to the ancient city. In 10 minutes walk you will already have the views of the city walls. It was very easy to reach by bus from the high speed train station (Datongnan). The room was beautiful, bed was super comfy and everything was clean. No cigarette smell either. Staff was really friendly and could speak some English which was pleasant. There is also a coffee and cocktail bar in the lobby, we only tried the coffee, but it was a nice!

It was the best offer for it's value, i've got an upgrade for free and that room was clean, comfortable. A bit old bathroom interior but there were all facilities i needed. Very hospitable, friendly and helpfull staff. Everything was good 👍

The service was very good. The original room had a bit of odor, so I upgraded to a twin room for free. There were problems that were promptly responded to and handled. The room was quiet and tidy. The corridor was quiet. I had a good rest. The breakfast was also good with a lot of variety. I will come again next time~

Very close to the Datong South station, about 5 min by car. Spacious rooms, bathrobes provided, excellent tea (proper tea, no teabags!) inside the room. We stayed for 2 days. Easy ride to the ancient city of Datong, about 15-20 min, I think. The only inconvenience was that the heating is on all the time, i had to keep the window openn throughout the night. And the reception is not 24/7 as advertised. When we tried to check out at 6:30 am to go to the Hanging Monastery, there was noone. We called them afyerwards, and everything was sorted though, they even let us come back and leave our bags till the evening when we had spare time before the train.

I traveled to Datong with my family and chose this hotel for the convenience of travel. I stayed for a total of four nights. It only takes about ten minutes to get off the high-speed rail station by Didi. I didn't expect it to be a brand of Raddison. The hotel is only a 7-8 minute walk from the tourist through bus (near Niushun Hotel) - it is very convenient to reach the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda and Hengshan/Hanging Temple. It takes more than 20 minutes to take a taxi to the Yungang Grottoes. It is also a 15-minute walk to the Fahua Temple and the Nine Dragon Wall in the ancient city. Scan the code and ride the small yellow car to Yanhua Temple/Shanhua Temple for 15 minutes. It takes about 715 to 20 minutes to get to Datong Museum by Didi. The hotel facilities are new and there is no odor. The bath water is very large, just like a heavy rain. The bath products and body lotion are also very good. The breakfast is also rich, taking into account both Chinese and Western tastes. The bedding is very good, with many pillows and both soft and hard, which is the key to a good sleep. The room is even equipped with drip coffee, which is a blessing for coffee lovers. In addition, the laundry room is also my favorite. Although I need to queue up occasionally at night, the automatic addition of laundry detergent relieves my entanglement. The gym is in the laundry room, and you can do some weight training while waiting. The cultural and creative products sold by the hotel are also very beautiful. The customer service is also in place. Every day when I come back from going out, I see that the items that were originally placed in a mess are neatly stacked, which is very considerate. The only regret is that there is really nothing to eat or drink near the hotel, but the disadvantages do not outweigh the advantages. It is a very comfortable accommodation experience.

Nanshe is a brand new hotel located in the downtown area. The building itself is brand new, modeled in chinese traditional courtyard style. The area is quiet but close to attractions and shopping streets 大同不夜城. It is located next to the datong ancient city walls north gate, within walking distance to nine dragons wall, huayan temple, shanhua temple and the Southeast Yi Historical and Cultural Block. There is also a bus stop outside that goes round the area.Cab fare is less than 30 rmb to Yungang Grottoes and Datong south highspeed train station. Friendly and attentive staff checking for allergy if any. The owner was kind enough to meet me at the train station. Breakfast is simple fare consists of millet congee with side dishes, tasty noodles in warm broth, toasts and local pastries etc. Freshly made coffee from a semi auto coffee maker. Hotel serves light sweet soup to guests before dinner. Free fruits and cookies in the lobby. Washing machine and dryer are avail for use. My room has an overhead projector with wide selection of movies. Clean and comfortable. Room has many wall sockets for charging. Bathroom is huge. Deposit 200 rmb as all the facilities are brand new. Enjoyable stay. Datong is delightful a comination of the old and new.

We stayed at the Elsewhere North Gate hotel for 1 night during our visit to China from Liverpool, England. Easy to find and walk to from the North Gate entrance of Pingyao. We were able to check in early, and our hosts were very helpful in making us feel welcome and provided advice and recommendations on where to eat and go during our stay. We did the castle walls, my tip is to take some water. The room was modern and clean with plenty of space. Nice hot shower and plenty of free accessories too, which was helpful eg toothbrush and paste, snacks and coffee. The location is about 2 minutes from the main street in Pingyao too. Thanks for our stay.

The mansion is antique and very beautiful. It is one of the best buildings in the ancient city, even as good as the scenic spots. As soon as you enter the door, you will feel the strong Chinese atmosphere. The room is clean and tidy, and it is also very simple and elegant👍🏻 The boss is super nice! Very handsome and nice! You can book cars to other nearby attractions and tickets to See Pingyao from the boss. The boss will help us with the strategy. Very nice and responsible! When we left, because the high-speed rail time was late, the boss also left his lounge for us to rest. It was really nice👍🏻 There is a pick-up service at the north gate of the ancient city. The room is well soundproofed and very quiet at night. The hotel's catering service is also excellent. The restaurant's dishes are delicious and the chef's cooking skills are quite amazing. The service staff is friendly and responsive, making you feel at home. The 5-star rating is well deserved!

The owner and her husband are super lovely, kind and helpful people. They drove me to the train station and helped me book a bus ticket as well. She even went back to the train station to bring some food that another traveller had left behind! The hotel is really well located right next to the old city and train.
