Hotel Sonne

My brother and I had our first stay at Hotel Sonne this month, travelling with my Dad who has been coming for many years. All the staff were warm and welcoming to three of us and recognised my Dad as a regular guest. The hotel is very well appointed with coffee machines in the room, modern bathrooms, balconies etc. The spa is one of the best I have ever experienced with himalayan salt room, two types of sauna, an ice maker etc. The food is excellent in the restaurant, we had great breakfasts ahead of each day of skiing and enjoyed a few evening meals in the hotel too. Everywhere is spotless, the staff do an amazing job running the hotel and taking care of guests. I can't wait to go again.

Not just a beautiful hotel with excellent amenities , but also great staff/owner very friendly and welcoming as well as helpful for our trip. If I get the chance to go back to Zermatt I would stay there again. The shuttle to and from the hotel was also very helpful and efficient!

Love this place, great location absolutely fantastic staff and rooms. Reception Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Outside spa was a treat especially in the evening. Bar was great, friendly and welcoming with a great barman. Room overlooking Matterhorn fantastic and superb bathroom.

Everything about this hotel reflected sophistication and class. Quiet elegance. Not overdone, just perfectly done, as shown in every detail. The staff was great. Nicely appointed and updated, but still charming in every way. Great location tucked up against the mountain at the end of Zermatt . Beautifully kept property with everything that you could desire in the room and common areas.

A very nice hotel with the worst restaurant imaginable. Our ski club stayed this week and were greeted by courteous staff in a beautiful location. Everything from our rooms to the spa, upstairs bar, ski room, morning taxi service, front desk staff and breakfast was fantastic! Unfortunately, our 7 included dinners were horrendous! On a positive note...Dennis, our bartender, was an absolute rockstar! He took amazing care of our entire group and was a friendly, attentive, sociable, and an all-around amazing person! Thank you! You really made our stay! Dinner was consistently one of the worst dining experiences I have ever experienced. The salad bar was decent and the dining room was cute, but our waitress (Natalia?) was a useless *****. The unpalatable meals took a ridiculous amount of time each night despite being a fixed menu. Our waitress could barely manage to clear plates, never mind serve us or take drink orders. Over half of our 45 person group ended up eating elsewhere due to the awful service and food quality. Dish after dish was sent back uneaten every night, but nothing was done to rectify the situation. I spoke with the front desk about alternative food choices and was at least able to set up a delicious fondue dinner for 10 of us for a 15 CHF upgrade per person one night. But every other meal was a major disappointment! We paid a lot of money for an upset stomach, awful service and hours of wasted time. I at least expected some sort of compensation from management after so many people complained and skipped dinners, but nothing was done. I'm extremely disappointed in the overall experience. Food is such a huge part of travel, and this hotel missed the mark. Eat literally anywhere else! Zermatt is full of fantastic eateries.

We had a wonderful week in Zermatt staying at the Hotel Sonne. Staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. Breakfast and dinner was included and had something for everyone. We really appreciated that they changed the dinner plan for us due to dietary restrictions.
