Our recent stay at the Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort was memorable and enjoyable. While the location does require driving to access nearby conveniences such as restaurants and stores, the hotel itself offers ample amenities that enhance the experience. The breakfast selection is exceptional and not to be missed, catering well to a range of tastes and preferences. Families will find the resort particularly appealing, with child-friendly facilities that promise a fun and engaging stay. We were particularly taken by the variety and popularity of the snacks and drinks offered at the open bar on the first floor. We look forward to returning during the summer season to take full advantage of the water park and pool facilities. For the onsen, I was fortunate I was able to purchase tattoo covers over the reception counter.

Stayed in Japanese style room at lower floor, view close to swimming pools and half window sea view.
Room is spacious which is good, but just insufficient table space.
Breakfast buffet excellent.

The location is very remote, so fits travelers with car. The staff insisted the slippers can only be worn inside the room but not to anywhere in the hotel, which is very inconvenient to us as we do not have any slippers for going to the public bath. Hope they can be more flexible.

Very enjoyable stay during the colder month in Okinawa although we could not really make use of the swimming facility outside the hotel due to this season. But the overall experience was very pleasant with the free mini bar my kid enjoyed every evening. The breakfast buffet was delicious with many choices. We stayed on an upper floor which was quiet. The extra money is well spent. The room had enough space for 3 beds. I may come in Autumn again and will definitely consider booking this hotel again.

We enjoyed our relaxing stay there and utilised many facilities. It is close to the beach which hosts activities like kayaking. The pool has fun slides. The onsen is clean and also has a viewing onsen. Breakfast spread is good. Hotel rooms are spacious.
The only catch is that it is mainly accessible by driving. Complimentary parking is abundant.

Nice property with easy access to the beach. The breakfast and dinner buffet are high quality and delicious. Highly recommend to rent a car to access it.

Newly refurbished hotel. Rooms are abit small but newly refurbished. A/C is still ancient system can only adjust fan setting no thermostat for temperature setting. Great breakfast buffet.
Location was far away from shops and restaurants. No direct beach access.

The hotel is huge and direct an the beach. The room was quiet big for Japanese standards. The hot springs were really nice. But the hotel is to far away from the airport and you need the airport bus. But the bus goes only twice a day. The pool was surrounded of an construction site. I would recommend this hotel when the new pool area is finished.

Nice resort hotel with beach access. Rooms are huge , clean and comfy. The hot bath was relaxing and nice. Free flow alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks at various time slots. The only thing to improve on is the balcony area, seems to be dirty and need some maintenance work.

A very nice experience. Although the location is a bit remote, the services provided were great. A very generous resort with a wide variety of activities. Swimming pools are nice. Free drinks and snacks are awesome.

This hotel is at least an hour away from the airport.
Check in:
Out of the four hotels we stayed at during our time in Japan, this had to be the slowest. We arrived after the recommended check in time, and were in a queue for over 30 minutes. Once at the desk, checking in time was about 10 minutes (considering we had already pre paid).
Rooms
We are a family of four and booked two superior twin rooms (next door to each other). The rooms were clean and spacious. Maybe the extra space could be attributed to the fact that sofa that was meant to be in the room was missing. Beds very comfortable, and underneath each bed was a pull out bed, so essentially the room could house four people (if you do not mind comprising on space). Shower (nice and powerful), bath tub and as standard with every hotel we stayed, heated toilet seat with bidet. Products were of a high standards (toothpaste in paper sachets), shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and body lotion, all with a pomelo scent. Didn’t need to use my own products.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner
When we booked, there packages on offer: breakfast only, dinner only and all inclusive (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Breakfast was very good. A large selection of food, coffee, beer, sparking wine, juices/smoothies. However, something needs to be done about queuing for breakfast. 40 minutes wait time not ok. Staff could not manage the large influx of guests. There were empty tables and guest waiting.
Dinner was also of a high standard. No waiting (it would appear that more people opted for breakfast only). Free flow beer, juice, sparking wine and spirits (with a cocktail menu). What would be good, if there was a 7 day menu or a feature dish each night. After 5 nights, both breakfast and dinner became boring.
Lunch was not available. This was a bit of sticking point. I asked management why there was no lunch as it was clearly included in my booking receipt. Apparently this is an error by trip.com and I will need to follow up with them.
Based on this there is actually no all inclusive package, as the free flow champagne, beer drinks and snacks that was served from 3pm to 6pm and from 7pm - 10pm was available to everyone. What this created was mass queuing in the lobby area. Also, guests that opted not have dinner were permitted to order take away (McDonalds/KFC etc) into the hotel, so the lobby was packed with people and a cacophony smells from the food. I have never been to hotel where this has been permitted.
Beach and swimming pools
Zanpa beach was crowded and there are not enough umbrellas and chairs to go around. Poolside facilities, nice and new. Cabana’s for rent (4 hours at a time), which comes with a platter of fruit and a drink per person (maybe when the pool bar opens, you will cabana service).
Staff
Friendly and well dressed. Not many staff spoke English. So lots of gesturing and pointing.
I think once the construction is finished, the hotel will be very nice. What is unfortunate, is that for a hotel of that size, which offers so much food and drink and is far from everything, there is no fitness suit/ gym and studio for fitness classes (to allow guest to keep fit and burn all the extra calories they are consuming) :-)
