"Disappointing Stay – Unpleasant Room and Poor Customer Service We stayed in one of the motel's budget rooms, fully aware that we shouldn’t expect luxury—but even with modest expectations, our experience was deeply disappointing. We booked a budget room over the Easter weekend and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience. The room had a terrible smell—like a mix of cigarette smoke and mould—that hit us as soon as we walked in. The bathroom was extremely small and outdated, with cracked tiles and visible black mould, which was pretty concerning from a hygiene and health perspective. The air quality in the room was so poor that we felt nauseated and unwell after a few hours of stay. We had to cut our stay short -- leaving at 2am to sleep in the car -- for the sake of our health. We raised these issues with reception, hoping they might offer a solution or at least express some concern, but their attitude was surprisingly dismissive. It felt like they expected us to accept these conditions simply because it was a budget room, which is unacceptable. Regardless of the price point, a room should be clean and safe to stay in. We understand it was a busy Easter weekend and they were fully booked, so there were no other rooms available to move us to. But what really stood out was their lack of basic customer service—no apology, no real attempt to make things right beyond eventually refunding us for the rest of our stay when we chose to leave. Overall, while we appreciate the refund, the situation could have been handled much better. Customer service was sorely lacking, and the condition of the room should never have been considered acceptable to begin with."

"Good location, on the main road into town, but relatively quite. Easy walk to city centre and plenty of place to eat near by. Good parking, and suits parking with a trailer if you need to. Rooms need some basic maintenance though - the door to our room was difficult to open from inside and outside - the door knob was noticeable loose. My wife mentioned it to the person at the reception desk, but not sure if anything was done."

"This would have to be the worst motel we have ever stayed in. The condition and cleanliness of the place was unacceptable. The whole place is obviously old, run down and hasn’t had any maintenance for quite a number of years. Before you walk in the door on the wall exposed to the elements is the 240 volt switch board. Not in a lockable cabinet out of the weather, how safe is that. Anyone has access to it including kids! The bathroom needs a renovation, the shower is that close to unusable. The taps took a lot of effort to turn on, and to turn off to a point where the shower stopped running. My partner was unable to operate these taps so I had to do it for her. The water was also spraying over you from the swivel joints on the shower rose.  The exhaust fan wouldn’t work, suspect burnt out.  The shower door took a lot of effort to close or open.  The towels were discloured and thin to the point of worn through as well as the frayed edges. Well past their use by date.  The carpet was stained and looked filthy.  The bed spread had large stains on it.  If I was the owner I would be to embarrassed to offer this room to the public, especially someone paying for that privilege.  The entrance to the motel is badly potholed, again evidently lack of maintenance.  The website displays photos of the room which does not represent the current condition. These photos are many years old.  How anyone would give this place a good review is beyond me.  There is no way we would ever stay in this motel again.  David Macdonald."

"Everything would be perfect if the room was away from the swimming pool and the main road. The children started at 7:30 am going to the swimming pool and they were screaming loudly. It was impossible to use the swimming pool because it was busy all the time. However things that I have to consider if we need to book an accomodation in Wangaratta. Restaurant, staff and room cleaning good."

"Located in the heart of Wangarata, parking is convenient in front of the room, making luggage handling easy, and check-in is simple. Ideal for a short stay during your trip, and not far from a supermarket. The room is spacious and suitable for families. However, there's only one air conditioner, which might not be enough if it gets too hot."
