Lime Tree Lodge

Unfortunately we didn’t have much time to spend here but it is set on a beautiful farm – 5 alpacas and TONS of rabbits around. We walked around a bit - it was so peaceful. Our room was huge – a king sized bed, large living area and bathroom. Breakfast was included and we were made fresh to order scrambled eggs and bacon. A very pleasant, if short, stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lime Tree Lodge. The room was large and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful with an added bonus of several llamas they keep. Laxman, our host, was vary friendly, helpful and eager to make certain we enjoyed our stay. We had a nice time chatting with him while he prepared our breakfast. We recommend the Lime Tree Lodge and would love to return.

The good reviews must have come from when the Lodge was under different ownership. We arrived at the lodge at the same time as another couple and were me by two employees, neither of who could speak English. Both our rooms were double booked although both of our bookings were clearly visible on the computer. Compensation was offered by the manager, who we managed to reach by phone but was never forthcoming, and there was no help at all to find other accommodation at a holiday time when there was very little availability in nearby Wanaka. Luckily a wonderful lady at the tourist office was able to help us. Judging by the look of the lodge it has definitely been let go since the previous owners left. We looked around and found it run down and in need of a good spring clean. We would not advise booking here.

I booked this place based on Frommer's 2nd edition travel guide that highly recommended it. I was really disappointed in my stay and I think something has to have changed in management, it most definitely should not be a 5 star hotel. Probably the most uncomfortable bed of our entire trip and all the extra details described in the book did not exist.

This place was warm and inviting - love the group meals (B/L/D) as I was able to meet and carry on a conversation with people from all around the world. The other guests were from Denmark, the USA (Dallas/North Carolina) and Sweden. The host were very pleasant and accommodating - wanting to meet your expectations and had intimate knowledge of the local area (Wanaka). We (the guests) had a huge meal prepared by our guests during the holiday season (December 2024). I will definitely return to this place for an extended stay.

We stayed 2 nights at the Lime tree lodge. The host was very kind and wanted to help us with anything. We did miss an overal introduction to the lodge. What facilities were present and how to use them. The room itself was fine although it felt a bit outdated. The host made us breakfast, this was lovely, nice and had much variety. We think that this place can easily be an amazing lodge. It just needs some more thought.
