Hotel di Akihabara, Tokyo

Very convenient, not too far from the train station, friendly staff and it was an enjoyable stay! would recommend for those who are travelling alone or as a pair as the rooms are quite small. other than that no issue at all with the stay at the hotel and would defenitely come back!

We had a nice stay at Washington Hotel Akihabara. The hotel is well located, nearby metro lines and local trains which allow us to easily move around Tokyo. Although the room is small, it is well designed and it big enough for few nights. The bed is not very large but comfortable. We managed to sleep with our 2 yo kid. You can also choose between soft or hard pillow. The bathroom was quite big with a nice bathtub. Around the hotel, you have plenty of restaurant and convenient stores. The buffet breakfast was great and everything we try tastes really good ! There is a large choice between Japanese food and wester food. Finally, there is a laundry area which was really convenient.

It was very convenient that its right outside the station. Right in front of the hotel, the streets are bustling with anime shops. Theres abc mart and GU beside also. Easily accesible to tokyo station and asakusa. Also convenient if heading to airport by transferring to ueno/nippori to take the skyliner. Though its self check in, it was simple and fast. As usual the rooms in japan is small, can't quite open up 2 big luggages easily. The room has a modern feel to it and many free amenities to take at the reception floor. However we noticed that sometimes there is an unpleasant smell in the shower and also stale smell in the room when we return after a day out. Overall, it was a still a pleasant stay and I would consider this hotel for future trips but at a bigger room.

A bit disappointed with this hotel. Might be from my misunderstanding of the style of room? Not sure. The room was larger than others but laid out in a way that it felt very cramped, and we were tripping over our luggage. The mattress was hard and springy (could feel the springs popping when we moved) and the pillows were very flat. The hotel advertises a “private onsen” meaning you can only use it if booked in the hotel, but no where does it say “no tattoos” until you are checked in. I should have confirmed, but trusted the listing on Trip, because so many other hotels specify no tattoos on their listings. I just assumed no warning against it meant tattoos were okay, but I was wrong. Some extra amenities that were nice were the free late night ramen and ice cream, the manga library (all in Japanese though), and the free washing machine (must pay for drying). The location can’t be beat, it’s very close to a metro stop and Akihabara Electric Town. Despite this, I probably would not stay here again.

Pros - Superb location. You live right above the JR station and the Lawson right under opens for 24 hours. - No serious downsides with a nice room. For the most part it was a nice stay and I'd give a 8/10 overall, so the cons below are a bit nitpicky. Cons - Check in machines. Really hated them and they pop up at every hotel I've stayed recently. Every foreigner I've seen had some problems with them that require manual assistance anyways so check in actually takes more time than when they didn't exist. Not a language barrier problem but more like errors popping up too often. - Slippers are reused. - The side I stayed on faces directly to this building called チョムチョム秋葉原, which in itself isn't a problem. However, it has a hot pot shop on the 5th floor with glass windows all over that opens until 5AM. Staying on the 7th floor, which is the lowest floor possible for this hotel, made it a little uncomfortable to leave the curtains opened at night to an otherwise nice view to wake up to. - The chair in the room has no back support. - One lift doesn't reach the ground floor out of the 3, and I seem to catch that one way more often and had to change lifts on the reception floor most of the time. Overall for the price I paid (about 35000JPY for 2 nights) it's a decent stay compared to my other experiences in Japan. The greatest strength is its 0 minute from JR station and easy access to convenience stores. If these 2 are not your great priorities there are more competitve alternatives around Akihabara.

Let's talk about the advantages first: the environment is relatively quiet, there are convenience stores around, and it is very convenient to buy things! The room facilities are complete, there is a washing machine with drying, laundry detergent is also ready, there are microwave ovens, ovens, tableware, refrigerators, induction cookers, everything is available! Especially during the winter vacation, I can't stand drinking ice water every day! Especially for breakfast, I really can't drink ice milk, and it's really convenient to have a microwave oven! Secondly, we booked a room that can accommodate 5 people. This room type is still rare in Japan. The room is about 30 square meters, and there is no problem with three suitcases! The hygiene is also good, and it's quite clean! We didn't have hot water due to misoperation, so we found a friend who knows a little Japanese to communicate with the front desk. The hotel quickly sent a brother on duty to deal with it. The brother's service is super good 👍! Let's talk about the shortcomings: the hotel is not close to the subway, it is 900 meters away from JR Akihabara Station and 1 kilometer away from the Ginza Line. Especially after a day of shopping, you still have to walk a long distance to get to the hotel, which is really tiring! Another thing is that the hotel is all self-service check-in, check-out, and check-out is relatively convenient. Just scan the QR code behind the room door! But check-in is really inconvenient. Either you are good at Japanese or English. Anyway, we really wasted some time to check in. I think the Japanese behind us also had a hard time! Another thing is that although the hotel's front desk is 24 hours, it also relies on smart devices to communicate. The child upstairs ran in the middle of the night and wanted to find a waiter to remind him, but it was impossible! Finally, the hotel pays more attention to environmental protection. The room is not cleaned, but the garbage is not cleaned. Fortunately, I brought my own garbage bag and packed it up every day and put it at the door of the room. I don’t know if it’s right, but it was taken away anyway! Another thing to mention is that although the room says there are five beds, it is actually two single beds, two tatami mats, and a very narrow sofa bed, but the sofa bed is really narrow. It is still most suitable for four people, and the quilt and pillow are only prepared for four people.

Our room for 4 pax is big enough for our shopping spree. We have 3 luggages sizes from small, medium & large. Addional of 1 big carton box, 1 golf bag & 1 box of golf clubs. We come back to stay here when we back Japan again. The only thing I'm not satisfied is the check out time at 10am. Normally check out time is 12pm.

Its hard to find a triple bed room with decent price in this area, so would definitely recommend you checking this hotel out. The location is not the *best*, it takes around 7-10 minutes walk to akihabara station. However on the plus side, there are quite a lot of restaurants in the walkable area around it. Cleanliness is excellent. Staffs are helpful as well.

It's very valuable and worthy place for this price. Very close to Akihabara station. Private bathroom, private toilet was attached to the room. Very convenient. Cannot compare with 5star hotels, But it has all facilities, privacy and convenience for this small price. Highly recommend this place for budget travelers. I will stay here for next time also.♥️💪
