University Inn ASU/Tempe

Staff were exceptional ! They were very helpful and accommodating, very personable. Our room was very modern and the bed so comfortable . This is the nicest room we had during our entire holiday .We would definitely stay here again !!!

My stay was great. The front desk was friendly, room was clean, and cute. One thing; please bring an extension cord or a very long phone charger wire. The lay out of the room was a bit off, because the fridge and microwave were next to the bed, and always serve as the nightstand or dresser was by the door. A bit goofy, but that's my only complaint.

University Inn is a good option if you need an affordable room close to ASU Tempe campus. It’s right on Mill Avenue so expect a lot of traffic by the hotel, especially Friday and Saturday nights. The rooms are small but comfortable with a fridge and a microwave. Don’t let the outside of the building fool you, the rooms are nice and the area is safe. The staff is incredible and super helpful. This hotel is right in the center of the action in downtown Tempe. It’s walking distance to some of my favorite places, such as Casey Moore’s Oyster House. The room was clean, and the staff was so professional. They seemed like they had been trained by the finest hotel. However, this is not the finest hotel. This is a motel. It’s close to the railroad tracks, and it’s close to some bars, and it’s not really quiet. That doesn’t bother me one bit. I live in a big city and I don’t think I could fall asleep if it was totally quiet. The front desk offers free ear plugs, if you need them. But it’s really not that outrageous. In fact, if you can fall asleep, watching a documentary, you won’t hear anything. The trains don’t run all night either. Fall asleep to a movie, and when you wake up to pee, everything will be quiet again. You absolutely cannot beat the value. I go to a hotel to sleep, not for continental breakfast, or anything else. If you want to be in a great area, and you are a no frills person, save a ton of money and go to this place. I will be back for sure.

I only stayed for 1 night because I had a 6am flight outta Phoenix. This motel is ok staff was nice, room was small but clean. The bed seemed old but was still comfortable. As a solo woman I felt mostly safe. Wish there was a 2nd lock on the door besides the deadbolt. Keep in mind when booking a stay here that it is on a very busy loud street so the room can be loud from all the traffic. So if you're sensitive to noise this probably isn't the motel for you or bring ear plugs like I did. Over all I would stay here again if it was just for 1 night but not multiple

The staff were excellent and friendly. Location great for Mill Avenue activities. Inside decor and bathroom fixtures modern and recently upgraded. Newer flooring throughout. Parking a little lacking for the number of rooms. Cost was below surrounding lodging options, but you get what you pay for. Lacked seating in the room, only one hard plastic chair. Primary issue was the mattress. It was so old and broken there was a permanent depression. When I sat on it, it bottomed out on the frame with my legs resting on the railing. The place was full and I couldn’t change rooms, so roughed it out one night. Facility needs all new beds and mattresses for sure. IMO comfortable beds more important than decor upgrades.

I was a bit worried booking my wife a room while i was having surgery but she was very comfortable there

Keeping in mind this is a low accomodation Motel, it is a fantastic value. The rions have been recently remodelled and the location is fantastic if you plan on going out on the town in the Heart of Mill Ave. I highly recoment it. One thing holding it back from being considered 5 stars in every respect is the exterior of the building. It needs some updating, and a fresh coat of paint would go a long way. Other than that, its about as good as it gets for a 2 star accomodation hotel.
