Como Castello Del Nero

Como Castello del Nero delivered a true 5 star experience. As other reviews have said, the hotel is ideally located to explore Tuscany. We had a rental car, but the hotel offers a shuttle to both Florence and Siena as well. The aspect from the hotel is beautiful and exactly what you hope Tuscany will look like. The amenities were excellent, and we found the staff extremely helpful. The service was not as formal as some Italian hotels which we appreciated, and all the staff had some English (and were tolerant of our attempts to speak Italian!) We ate at their casual restaurant each night of our stay and the food and service were perfect. We also really enjoyed aperitif’s each evening on their terrace. The pool was great - really warm, and there were enough loungers for everyone (one day there was not and the staff bought out more). We had a room on the top floor and the views were very good. In all, one of the best hotels we have stayed at, and we would strongly recommend.

Agree wit the other reviews....5 stars is definitely not enough! What an amazing property and the views are incredible. Breakfast was served outside with a view of the vineyards and dinner is in a Michelin Star restaurant. We had a room with loft and it was perfect. The attention to detail and the way you are treated you will feel like royalty. And the location is perfect!!!!!!!!! Would definitely return!

I will preface by stating that we originally expected to be booking Como Castello Del Nero but were advised that the whole hotel was booked one by one guest. This was not our first visit to a Como resort but it’s definitely our last at Como Tuscan resorts. We booked through a travel agent who explained the Castello was already booked out but we could be accommodated at the offshoot accommodation called Podere San Filippo which is situated on the same property and assumed that we would still be able to access the main building’s facilities. 24 hours before check in my husband received an email from the resort to inform him that the entire resort was booked out. We had already planned our trip to Tuscany with our daughter and granddaughter in tow and had booked 2 bedroom accommodation for 2 nights and hired a car for the journey. On arrival we were informed that we were to receive a breakfast “box” at 8am or 8.15am (is this school camp time not holiday time?)and also told that we had NO access to ANY facilities at the main property Castello Del Nero. We were offered people…(massage, yoga etc) could be sent down to us. Where were we expected to go for meals? The closest town is approximately 30minutes away down a windy sometimes muddy( when we were there) narrow country road. As compensation we were offered $100 voucher to be used at the Castello ( which we had no authority to attend) We were horrified at the treatment we received from a chain of this calibre, supposedly in the “ hospitality “ industry. What were we to do 24 hours before check in? We had hired a car and planned our trip around Tuscany with 2 nights at the resort. On arrival we were informed we were to receive a breakfast box at 8am or 8.15am ( is this school camp time not holiday time) and also told that we had NO access to any of the facilities at the main property. If I could it more than five stars I would. Every part of my stay was absolutely perfect. Amazing location, great food and top notch staff made this a trip to remember! The spa and pool are heavenly. If you’re looking for a beautiful setting to relax, this is the place for you.

Air conditioning not working. Staff unable to address the problem. Sad. Called and reported multiple times. Request to elevate the issue to the manager showed the manager was mia as well. Hotel not worthy of a five star rating. Eliminated from my future travels. Tuscany tourism now suspect.

The location is a dream , not far away from Florence in the Chianti Area, facilities are perfect. Rooms and the hotel are decorated with an amazing taste , it’s a country luxury experience. We had dinner at the Michelin star restaurant and we had the most incredible food ever ! Swimming pool and Spa are just perfect and are true retreat! Thanks to the amazing team .

We came here as part of a large group celebrating a 50th birthday party. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful this place is. From the moment you enter the driveway, you see the beautiful castle with all the beautiful gardens the amazing architecture, and the spectacular views of the hills, vineyards, the olive trees, the forest, and the distant villages. The grounds are beautiful with an amazing warm swimming pool, plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views, and hiking and walking paths inside and outside the premises. Staff was amazing. From the friendly and so helpful front desk staff to the amazing servers in all of the restaurants we were so impressed. Gabrielle, Angelo, Tessa ,Jay, the chef and his assistant were all so friendly and helpful, willing to tell you about the history of the castle and the surroundings. Everyone else was top-notch. We even needed to get a prescription for an eye medication for one of our friends and front desk staff did everything they could to get it to our room, which they did. The food and drinks are amazing here, but pricey, what you would expect from a resort in Tuscany. The wine selection is amazing. The food both in the Michelin Star restaurant and in the normal restaurant was fabulous. Not a bad meal to be found. Breakfast was awesome with tons of fresh fruit, salads, and other baked and hot food items. I must have gained five pounds here. The rooms are perfect and large with amazing architecture. Since this is a castle, they had to work around the structure itself, and every room is completely different. Ours had a huge bathroom with a beautiful bathtub and a vanity with two huge sinks. Our bedroom was large and immaculate with a pretty view of the hills and a huge oak tree right outside our room. The spa was. amazing. We got a few treatments there, and staff and the massages were great. The steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi were all clean and top notch. We did the cooking class with the chef. We also did a truffle hunt, which is highly recommended. Our guide, Matia, and his two dogs were awesome, sharing the history of this sport. We found tons of truffles and we brought them back and the chef prepared us food using them. Delicious. This is our second COMO stay, and I would really love to see as many as possible. These are places that will leave you memories for a lifetime. Thank you COMO and COMO staff for making our stay a complete joy!!!

One of the nicest, most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed at. Add a top notch, very friendly staff that could not have been more helpful and you have a winner. Every staff member we met was delightful. We definitely recommend and would be very happy to return. It was too chilly for the pool while we were there in early November, but the pool area is lovely. The La Torre Michelin starred restaurant was wonderful, and the Pavillion, more casual restaurant, was also very good. No complaints at all. I could see that this would also be a wonderful location for a wedding---
