The hotel is large and spacious, with three interconnected buildings featuring an onsen, or hot spring, on the sixth floor. The breakfast room's capacity is somewhat limited; we were seated on the third floor, a ballroom repurposed for breakfast, while the typical restaurant is on the second floor. Although the food is the same, the third-floor location lacks the ambiance and view of the second floor. While I understand that the hotel has many guests during peak hours, allowing guests to choose their seating would be preferable. We are not in a rush and are willing to wait; Japanese guests tend to eat quickly anyway. The room and hot spring were satisfactory, though unremarkable. The hotel's location is not convenient to the train station. If you are traveling by train, this should be considered, even though a shuttle bus runs hourly.

Very nice hotel and great location. I was lucky to have the last parking lot that is not yet reserved. I wasn’t able to try the private onsen because I didn’t book in advance. I’ll definitely book this hotel again if I go Takayama in the future.

The hot springs is nice and nearby to all the attraction places. There is a supermarket also nearby. The parking is cost JPY1500 for a day if you are the hotel guest. The hotel refund one day hotel fee to us due to last minutes road closure and we unable to check in.

The service was excellent. I especially want to praise the front desk lady that day, because we lost something at the previous hotel the night before, and the hotel's telephone customer service could only speak Japanese, so we couldn't communicate. The front desk lady of this hotel was very patient in helping us. It took up a lot of his time, but she was always very enthusiastic. The hotel also offers indoor and outdoor hot springs, and the restaurant in the hotel also serves good food. The breakfast in the morning was also delicious with a lot of variety. It was a very pleasant stay experience.

The room is cozy and have everything needed but small. They have limited parking lot next to the hotel. We have to park at second car park because next to hotel one is full and parking fee JPY500. All the guests except kids have to pay hot spring tax no matter whether use the hot spring facility.

Usually i rarely comment on hotel. I must said this time, this hotel is super amazing:) The location is near to JR station, came out from the station walk across the street u will see a 7-11 convenient store and turn right u will see the hotel. The hotel room is damn big, the room can watch netflix and youtube somemore! The hotel breakfast also must try i never regret booked a room with breakfast, plus plus the hotel staff is nice and friendly as they help me check in very fast and there is a public onsen on 9th floor. This hotel makes my trip in Takayama feel amaze! I definitely will come back again, one of the hidden gem i found in Takayama! I also catch a snow fall on that day such a great experience really appreciate 🥰 Happy new year

Very grateful for the comfortable room arranged, which made me feel as warm and cozy as at home. Especially the thoughtful anniversary snacks prepared by the hotel were truly a delightful surprise. Such a considerate arrangement made this stay exceptionally memorable. room is spacious and clean. there are 2 outdoor osen, and one-time complimentary entry to the osen in 深山桜庵 the hotel next to it . there are variety of food served in the dinner buffet. had a relaxed and enjoyable stay there.

A particularly nice touch was the welcome drink coupon, redeemable for a refreshing beer or soft drink at the self-service bar – a perfect way to unwind after a journey. The rooms at Wat Hotel & Spa are spacious and comfortable, featuring well-appointed bathrooms with excellent shower facilities. The hotel's onsen, located on the top floor, is a true highlight. The private onsen is available on a first-come, first-served basis, offering a relaxing and intimate experience. Simply lock the door, and the space is yours to enjoy. The hotel is also family-friendly, with a fun touch – guests can help themselves to a complimentary popsicle after their bath. All the essential amenities are provided, including combs, soap, shampoo, and comfortable bathrobes, readily available in the lobby. My stay at the Wat Hotel & Spa Hida Takayama was truly rejuvenating, and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting this charming town.

This hotel exceeded our expectation! It is very near the Nohi Bus station and the JR Takayama station (3-5 min walk). Although we just stayed overnight, we had a memorable experience in Takayama Ouan. The hotel has a lot of freebies for their guests. They have a booth in the lobby where guests can get free brewed coffee, hot tea, and green lemon iced tea. They also provide free socks since the hotel have tatami flooring. What we also loved about this hotel is the onsen (separate public onsen for male and female, and 3 private onsen). They also have a freezer where guests can get free iced cream after bathing. During past 9 pm, they also have free ramen for their guests. The room is spacious, and the view from our window is also nice (the roads and establishments covered with snow). Aside from the free stuff and great amenities, we also appreciate the kind and friendly staff members. We accidentally lost the luggage claim tag (and we are willing to pay for it) but they didn't charge us anything. When we go back to Takayama, we will definitely stay here again.
