Strahan Beach Tourist Park

What a fascinating town Strahan turned out to be, and we were so pleased to stay for four nights on a powered site. Great park in an excellent location for walking into town with its various shops, cafés, restaurants, etc. You will definitely need at least four nights here to fit in all Strahan has to offer; cruise, train trip, fabulous play, and plenty of options for meals from take-away seafood to excellent restaurants. Make this your base for your stay.

The cabin we were in had been constructed as a nice timber holiday home. However maintenance is overdue. The ramp to the front door is saggy and soft underfoot, which took some getting used to. The disabled access shower was in an open bathroom with a shower curtain. The shower drain was on one side of the room, but the whole room tilted in the opposite direction so the shower water pooled around the base of the toilet and under the sink. But saving the best to last...BLACK MOULD throughout. Not recommended.

We stayed on Powered Beach Site 1. The sites were separated by a hedge and were quite level. Easy access to beach at the back of this area. The amenities were nice and clean with great hot showers. The grounds were clean and well maintained. They sold firewood and filled gas bottles (yeh! no swap and go where you get an old battered gas bottle). The check-in is all done via text and they were very accommodating with our arrival time. Park is in a great location with an easy walk back into the township of Strahan for the boat cruises, bit of a longer walk to the wilderness train.

Booked a Cabin for 4 nights. On arrival { no contact with manager except via TXT } Cabin floor was sopping wet from recent mopping when we arrived at 2pm., needed thoroughly drying out with all windows opened before we could move in. Not sure why we were put in this particular Cabin, but it was down the very back of the property in a dingy, deeply shaded, mossy location with an untidy creek/swamp/mud pit out the back. Maybe other Cabins were better located where they received some sunlight, but ours felt more like a cave ? No outdoor seating of any kind..... Worst thing ...... Bathroom/toilet was terrible with shower water 1cm deep over much of the floor, and it never drained away. In particular around the toilet where it was deepest, which meant sitting on the toilet with your feet paddling. Lots of black mould rising from floor, especially behind toilet, and skirting lifting away from walls.. Does not look healthy, and I would doubt it would pass any hygiene inspections. Cooking facilities were poor, old and a very rusty single element atop a cheap toaster oven. Heating struggled to warm the dewy room. No mop or sweeping tools supplied in Cabin and the couch was most uncomfortable. Disabled access ramp was bouncy, suggesting rot under the planking. Disappointing too was the lack of any sea view, we were hoping for more. To be honest the only good side was it was fairly close to township attractions and the bed was reasonably comfortable.

Powered caravan site. Good size, a little dusty but you can’t do much about that, as little rain had. Reception staff polite and informative. Good clean amenities. children’s sandy playground good, near camp kitchen. Camp kitchen a little small and could probably do with a bit of a Reno, but was very serviceable. Gardens could do with a bit of a tidy up and weeding. Great location, flat walk (about 1km) along the waterfront to town. Bottle shop and cafe/take away opposite park. We will stay again. Good value for money.

We stayed in the cabins - ours was a 2 bedroom with kitchen, bathroom/ shower. A well maintained and friendly holiday park. Easy walk to the beach area and not too far from a great takeaway food place. At one end of the beach is a public space undercover shed with BBQ facility and lots of bench, tables, seating around. We stayed two nights and had great weather. Good location to base yourself if planning to do the Gordon River cruise or Huon Pine outlet shop/ museum, or restaurants. One night was very clear sky so I ventured out after 9pm to do some astrophotography. Checked my shot to see if I needed to adjust exposure and composition - I did get the Milky Way - but I was surprised to see the Aurora Australis - it lasted over and hour. Memorable stay on many levels. Great morning walk along beach towards boat mooring - scenery fabulous and water reflections stunning. A brilliant sunset made the whole photography experience unbelievably wonderful. Highly recommend the tourist park and am grateful to manager for giving directions.

We stayed in our caravan on powered site 4 nights. The staff were outstanding in every respect. Lovely clean park and facilities. Easy walk into town for boat tours or coffee. Fantastic location....much better than Big 4 the other side of the road. Will visit again.

Great location, spacious cabin with everything we needed and even though it was at full capacity, it was very quiet at night time. Considering the age of the cabin, it was reasonably clean and maintained, with the exception of a leaking tap in the bathroom. Apart from that, we have no objections to staying there again.

Beautiful location and short stroll to boats. Easy checkin and responsive to my questions. The extra point- is due to cleanliness. No kidding - a clean bathroom and rubbish bins will win me over anytime. We stayed 2 nights in a powered site by the waters edge…..lovely.
