Great location sitting halfway between Central Station and St. Mary's Football Ground, 10 minute walk from each. Despite paying for an early check-in I arrived to find a sign at the check-in desk saying it was closed until 3PM. The automated check in machines gave the same advice. I had to ring the buzzer a number of times before a team member eventually arrived to check me in. She offered no apology fir my wait and appeared to be somewhat disgruntled at having been disturbed by the buzzer. There was also another customer who had already checked in but had a problem with her key who had been waiting even longer than me, again no apology was offered to her. I would suggest the check in desk should be manned at all times between 0700 - 2300 hrs.. The area around the hotel was disgusting, piled high with litter making it very unattractive and unwelcoming, I would suggest someone from the hotel needs to speak to the city council about this issue. No restaurant was available during my stay so I had breakfast at Brunch and Barista on the High Street, a 5 minute walk away and very good. Despite the lack of air con the room was warm and a fan was also provided in the room by default. I'd happily stay here again if I was going to Dt. Mary's despite the slightly surly staff and unpleasant surroundings. Parking is available on site but chargeable at roughly £10 per 24 hours.

This is our go to hotel when cruising from Southampton. A short taxi ride from the train station, easy and quick check in, and helpful staff on reception. The room was spotlessly clean and toasty warm on the coldest night of the year so far. Tea and coffee in the room, more available in reception. We took advantage of the meal deal which is good value for money, £26.99 for evening meal and full breakfast. Great choice for vegetarians at the breakfast buffet and we were well looked after by the lovely Kasia. Great coffee too. Thanks to all staff at Premiers Southampton City Centre.

We regularly stay at Premier Inn's and this one has many positives, but we would look for alternatives in this area in the future. Positive points - the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful and good advice on local taxi's. The room was fine and the bed comfy. The location is great for Southampton city centre, shops and restaurants. Downside - The air-con didn't work in the room but to be fair a heater and fan was provided. The worst part was all the litter outside where we saw rats and birds making it worse. I must stress this litter was near bins from the apartments next door, not the Premier Inn direct, but next to the hotel car park.

I wouldn’t bother going to this hotel if you have a car. We were told by the staff that we could come and go as we please from the car park and then pay when we leave. This is exactly what we did. But after leaving we had a fine sent to us in a rather threatening letter which stated we did not pay. Despite us sending bank statement evidence this was not good enough for them. We were therefore served with a £57 fine for something we paid for. I think this is unacceptable and the worst part is that the premier inn don’t want to know. They either don’t pick up the phone or just say that it’s a separate organisation that deals with the parking. I think this is poor from premier inn and shame on you for not looking after your customers. I know exactly what happened. We left the hotel one day and then came back after 12am. This has caused their system to say we haven’t paid. I shouldn’t have to deal with this hotels poor system and perhaps you should be making this clear to your customers.
