Hotel Mato

Our recent stay at this charming two-star hotel in Skiathos was a delightful surprise. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, exceeding our expectations for the price point. The hotel's convenient location offered easy access to all the amenities Skiathos has to offer. We were particularly impressed by Fofi 's hospitality and the unexpected treat of a complimentary breakfast, which was particularly abundant. A unique aspect of our stay was the presence of friendly outdoor cats. While this might not appeal to everyone due to the smell, our seven-year-old son and the children from the accompanying family absolutely loved them. It's important to note that the hotel's location within the old city might pose challenges for guests with mobility impairments due to the narrow steep streets and stairs. While the hotel itself may be modest, its prime location, coupled with Fofi kindness, made our stay truly memorable. We would happily return.

We were originally only booked in hotel mato for one night, but unfortunately got caught up in the devastating floods that hit the islands. Fofi, the owner kept us up to date with local news, and when our flights were cancelled, let us stay longer, lucky for us that her oncoming guests cancelled! It’s a lovely, quaint hotel, tucked away up a cobbled hill. Lots of cats, which was fine by us, but maybe not for some. Thank you Fofi for your hospitality in what was an awful time for your beautiful island.

Avoid this place. The owner is abusive and mean. No care or customer service. Bizarre given this is what running a hotel is about. There are about 20 stray cats in the garden and hotel at any one time. If you are allergic like my husband this is seriously a worry. Personally I don’t go on holiday to share the area with flea ridden stray cats.

Stayed here for several days recently and thoroughly enjoyed our time at this delightful guesthouse. The proprietor was wonderful, so accommodating and helpful. Basic rooms, but very clean. The housekeeping was absolutely amazing, best I've ever had. Breakfast excellent and substantial.

Είμαστε αρκετά απογοητευμένοι από την εξυπηρέτηση και την αξιοπιστία. Είχαμε προγραμματίσει τη διαμονή μας για το διάστημα 28/7 έως 30/7 σε βίλα 10 ατόμων τρεις μήνες νωρίτερα και είχαμε δώσει προκαταβολή για τη διασφάλιση της κράτησης. Μόλις καταφθάσαμε στο κατάλυμα μας ενημέρωσαν ότι η βίλα δεν ήταν διαθέσιμη επειδή επέστρεφε η ιδιοκτήτρια και ισχυρίστηκαν ότι δεν μας το είπαν νωρίτερα για να μην μας χαλάσουν τις διακοπές. Όλως τυχαίως υπήρχαν τρία διαθέσιμα δωμάτια με ελλιπείς παροχές και σε πολυ κακή κατάσταση, στα οποία μας πρότειναν να μείνουμε με το ίδιο κόστος. Δεν υπήρξε καμία διάθεση για εξυπηρέτηση, καθώς οι ιδιοκτήτες μας έφεραν προ τετελεσμένων γεγονότων και το μόνο που φιλοτιμηθηκαν να κάνουν, έπειτα από αρκετές πιέσεις, ήταν μια πενιχρή έκπτωση. Ωστόσο, φάνηκαν αρκετά πρόθυμοι να μας επιστρέψουν την προκαταβολή, γνωρίζοντας ότι ήταν αδύνατο να βρεθεί κατάλυμα στο νησί για 10 άτομα στο πικ της σεζόν. Είναι οφθαλμοφανές ότι πρόκειται για απάτη.

È difficile classificare la struttura come hotel perché non risponde agli standard minimi di una struttura alberghiera. L’accesso è popolato da un numero indefinito di gatti tenuti senza il rispetto delle regole di gestione delle “gattare”sicchè il loro odore (unito a quello del fumo) ammorba tutto il piccolo ingresso e la saletta di passaggio. All’arrivo abbiamo appreso che la colazione sarebbe stata pronta soltanto a partire dalle 8.00 (informazione non riportata su Booking) e che pertanto non avremmo potuto fruirne in tempo visto che alle 7.30 avremmo dovuto lasciare l’albergo per l’aeroporto. La signora ha obiettato che non può svegliarsi presto la mattina.In ogni caso il prezzo di ciascuna camera (circa 160 euro) sarebbe rimasto lo stesso. Si è inteso che la struttura (parecchio vetusta) è gestita con grande risparmio da un’unica persona quasi sempre assente (la sí deve sollecitare a un numero di cellulare confidando che prima o poi rientri). La camera (la cui porta non si chiude dall’interno) era in condizioni deplorevoli come testimoniato dalle foto che allego: A) aspiratore coperto di sudiciume; B) muri screpolati) C) finestre bloccate con la corda; D) box doccia privo di una delle due porte di chiusura e comunque sudicio; E) luce fioca L’albergo è situato in una zona in salita non raggiungibile da taxi. Concedo una stella perché la stanza aveva buone dimensioni e per la presenza di una bilancia sebbene sudicia.
