"The entire town has a charming Chinese aesthetic, with lanterns, moonlight, a lake, and small bridges – everything a photographer could dream of. The hotel is right by the river, offering views of the distant bridges, and in the evenings, a magical, fairy-tale-like mist rises from the lake, creating an enchanting atmosphere. The whole town feels ethereal, and the hotel's decor, rich in traditional Chinese style, blends seamlessly with its surroundings. Staying here, you get a real sense of the serene and free-spirited life of the town's inhabitants from earlier times. This trip was absolutely worthwhile; it was fantastic."
Xianheng Hotel
"This is one of the better hotels in Shaoxing, with excellent facilities across the board. Its biggest advantage is its proximity to Lu Xun's Former Residence and Shen Garden – it's literally at the best and closest spot right at the entrance of the scenic area, and also close to the subway. Regarding the accommodation, we booked a garden view courtyard room on the first floor. It was very convenient, saving us from constantly taking the elevator. There were a few more mosquitoes and it was a bit humid, but thankfully, we had two sunny days during our stay. Upon arrival, we noticed the bathroom sink was clogged, but the hotel promptly cleared it after we notified them, which was great. Now, about the restaurant. The menu wasn't extensive, but we tried some famous local dishes like Shaoxing Sanxian, Dongpo Pork, Stinky Tofu, and Drunken Fish. The dining service here is quite different from what you'd find in southern Guangdong. We weren't offered tea after sitting down; when we asked about it, the waiter just brought three bowls for tea. There were no napkins either. Basically, they don't offer anything unless you ask. After dinner, when we requested toothpicks, they pulled out a handful of loose ones and gave us one or two. It's hard to associate this kind of service with a five-star hotel. Perhaps for a second-tier city, this is as good as it gets, so one shouldn't expect too much!"

"The room initially provided was completely different from the pictures. Later, when asked to change rooms, I had to go to the front desk myself. They didn't reply to my WeChat messages, saying they were too busy. When I got to the front desk, I found out there were three people checking in for one room. It wasn't until the next day that I understood why a hotel of this size was so busy – there was only one young woman running errands. Her colleague didn't even know how to register a license plate. The room's set-top box was faulty, and it was constantly being restarted. This was unbearable, especially in the middle of the night. The room rate was almost comparable to some international chain hotels, yet it didn't even meet the most basic hotel quality. I booked it because it was a "hotel," not a "guesthouse," but it turned out to be just a guesthouse."

"The hotel has a charming, antique village-like atmosphere. The room we stayed in was in a great location, very close to the restaurant, and came with butler service and shuttle transfers. The room type matched the photos we saw when booking. The hotel uses old-fashioned keys for the doors, which is quite unique. The courtyards are interconnected, and during our stay, we noticed people passing through, which raised concerns about safety and privacy. It's important to lock your courtyard gate securely when you go out. The cleanliness could be improved; there was dust in corners. Since our room was by the lake with lots of greenery, insects would enter when we opened and closed the windows this season. I recommend the hotel address this issue. We enjoyed the hotel's Wupeng boat experience. The hotel also offers direct access to the Dayu Mausoleum scenic area, though tickets need to be purchased. It would be even better if future stays could include a collaboration with the attraction. The staff were warm and polite, and we even received a souvenir upon checkout."

"I have stayed at the hotel two years ago. After checking in this time, I found that it is no longer managed by Kaiyuan. Maybe it is a paid hotel. The service has also dropped compared to before. The front desk said it would be upgraded but it was not upgraded (but the attitude was still good). There was hair in the floor drain of the guest room that had not been cleaned. The drain was slow and smelly. The most exaggerated thing was that the drain in the bathtub was useless. It slowly filled a tank. The water was left until check out. The hotel's maintenance has obviously deteriorated and looks old, which is inconsistent with the Kaiyuan Mingdu brand and is misleading."

"This hotel is located near Yangming Old Town in Shaoxing, with many restaurants nearby, making it very convenient for dining and getting around. The service from the front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant staff was warm and responsive. The bedding in the room was clean, and the breakfast offered a wide variety of options. There was even a complimentary late-night snack, which was a thoughtful touch. However, the downside was that the room was too small, and the design of the bathroom was quite peculiar. It was already cramped, but the door design required opening and closing it four times to enter the shower, and you had to squeeze in sideways to get in and out. I doubt a larger guest would even be able to get into the bathroom! 😀"

"Pros: The location is excellent, right next to Fushan Park. The hotel's internal environment is also very good, and the staff are polite and proactive in resolving issues. Areas for Improvement: 1. The breakfast selection is quite limited. 2. The smart system isn't very smart, especially the curtains – there's a delay when opening and closing them, and the smart assistant ('Xiao Du') isn't very responsive. 3. There was a tiny bit of dust in the corners of the room. Overall: What I got was roughly equivalent to what I paid, so no major disappointments, but no big surprises either."
