Fondney Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao NECC

A nice getaway not far from the city. Would recommend for a short staycation.

Not within walking to any subway station or eateries but within a 10 mins drive to the Hongqiao Railway station. Quiet serene environment.

The hotel is lovely with vintage glamour style and some touches of Old Shanghai. The lobby and rooms are stylish with lots of furniture. The location is very convenient for going to the airport or railway station. I was here just one night at the end of a long trip so I could be close to the railway station. If you order delivery, there is a cute robot that delivers it to your door as long as it can fit inside the robot’s cabinet. Very convenient! There is a big pool I didn’t get a chance to use but it really looked great, I regret not taking a dip in the morning. The breakfast left a lot to be desired for western options. Just toast and hard boiled eggs, some sausage links typical of Chinese style western breakfast. A couple cereal options and some pastries and cake. However there was a noodle station and some dumplings, etc that were pretty good. If you’re accustomed to Chinese breakfast it wasn’t bad, a step up from 7/11. Also, for me, the bed was way too hard, and it squeaked when adjusting position at night. I woke up with a sore back. My main disappointment was the lack of bellhop and concierge. I was ending a long trip and had a lot of luggage I had to carry up a few steps, since the driveway where taxis stop is not directly in front of the lobby door.

Very nice and specious room, good swimming pool! Staff - very little English. Didn’t go out of the hotel, so have no comment about the location. Good for relaxation and cooling down on hot days!

So far best experience in Shanghai. Would love to stay here again.

Hotel rooms were spacious, beds were big and comfortable (too stiff for my boyfriend but good with me). Location was a bit far from Hong Qiao station and situated in a residential area. Rooms were also a bit old.
