Scole Inn Hotel

We booked into this hotel at 20.00 on a Wednesday night to find that the restaurant was closed, the receptionist was really nice and she managed to get the chef to make us a ham and cheese toastie, I asked if she could do us 2 toasties as we we very hungry , they were very nice till we found out the price £47.99 for the food a pint of lager and 1/2 coke, I could have had a Indian takeaway delivered for half the price. My room looked very nice but the bed was the worst I have ever slept in, I was in room 14 , the mattress really needs changing, the shower was very good and powerful but foliage growing through the crack in the window frame spoiled the experience.We went for breakfast in the morning to find the kitchen staff were not there so had to wait 1/2 hour till they turned up overall it was not a good experience and I would not stay at this hotel again.

Terrible food. Hair in sandwiches and stale bread. Salad wasn’t fresh either. Strawberries tasted of onions. Sausages overdone. Avoid if you don’t want to gag on the food 🤮 Strange for a lunchtime and was dead - only went because we had a voucher bought for us - but please don’t spend your hard earned cash on this place!

Gorgeous building, with very cool (and allegedly haunted) 17th-century staircase. Friendly staff, and a good bar with an open fireplace. The Vikings Mead cocktail comes in A GIGANTIC HORN, and it's worth the price. We stayed in one of the ground floor rooms in the old stables. Since one of the two resident ghosts is a highwayman, we assume he was around there somewhere.

Just got home from a second overnight stay at this fantastic historic hotel. An incredible building that predates the great fire of London. Room was delightful, clean and well appointed. Food at both dinner and breakfast was very good indeed. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely place to stay, had such a great time and felt really at home due to the staff being so nice, talkative and friendly. The bed I stayed in was lovely and the food standard was incredible, definitely worth giving the place a look and getting to know the characters inside. 10/10 would stay again and I'm definitely gonna

Laughter and fun in the bar for pre-meal drinks. Spacial, and comfortable location for the meal, with attentive service and quite excellent and varied food choices. Very good value, and departed with a joint conclusion that we could hardly wait for our next visit.

Went for the carvery, it was fairly quiet so we didn’t have to wait long for our food. The food was nice but lacked in gluten free options. As my husband is a Coeliac he couldn’t have the leeks, cauliflower cheese, stuffing or Yorkshire pud but the price was still the same. (They did make him some gluten free gravy.) Such a shame as these dishes can easily be made gluten free as we have had them at other places. This is why I only rated a 3.

We had Sunday lunch here with family and to begin with service was great, but after we had our roast the staff seem to avoid us, we wanted more drinks and had to catch one and then waited ages to get someone else for a dessert menu, they wasn't that busy at this time and seem to be more interested in clearing a couple of tables and talking rather than serving paying customers...won't return...

We went for a lunchtime meal. We choose Beef and ale pie, with mash and broccoli for £16.95. The small portion of vegetables were cold. Spoke to the waitress who informed me the plates were cold!!! The beef was tough and gristle, and the inside pastry was uncooked. Can honestly say that the meal was a waste of money.
