Ocean Sonic Resort was an absolute delight for our family vacation! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Nimo in particular was incredibly helpful and attentive, making sure all our needs were met.A big thank you to Nimo for making our stay a wonderful experience.
The resort itself is fantastic, with incredible swimming pools that are perfect for families. They had fun foam parties for the kids every single day, which they absolutely loved. The beach is just a short walk across the street, providing easy access to the beautiful ocean.
Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. We felt right at home during our stay. The resort grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere.
The amenities, activities, and customer service at Ocean Sonic Resort are top-notch. We couldn't have asked for a better family vacation spot. We'll definitely be returning in the future!

Really old resort back in early 2000s. Many idle facilities left to rot collecting dust. Breakfast buffet is heavily chinese oriented as expected. Not much suits even for our south east asian taste buds.
The water park is quite sad because they make it seemed bigger than it actually is from promotional photos. And yes it is equally old water park.
Location is very close to the train station so thats a plus point for us doing short stay in Sanya.

Thanks to Butler Wendy who is helpful in helping us upgrade to a Bigger and Better Sea View Apartment.
It comes with a bathtub on the balcony. We just arrived at the hotel (after a red eye flight), she recommended a Coconut Chicken Hot pot next to the hotel and even brought us there. She constantly checks in with us to ensure that our stay is comfortable.
Pros:
1. The location is convenient near the Sanya City so traveling around for food and attractions is easy with DiDi (taxi).
2. The bed is comfy. The apartment comes with a washing machine, fridge and induction cooker (but may have to ask them for the pots)
3. Breakfast is a good spread with Chinese and Western food options. Most importantly, breakfast time is till 1 pm.
Cons:
1. Wifi is very very weak, and can't be used at all. And being a tourist (foreigner) we have to use our precious data roaming.
2. There is no chair and table at the balcony which does not allow us to sit and relax at the balcony.
3. The Swimming pool strangely is located outside of the hotel in a public space. So it feels weird going down for a swim.
4. There is no beach front but there is a beautiful pathway leading to Phoenix Island, so the walking and jogging is pleasant.

We loved this quaint little place. Off the main shopping street so it’s a bit less busy but still close enough to make for easy access. Right on the beach which is both a good thing and potentially a slight issue for those wanting a place that is quiet at night. You will have to deal with the club music from a couple other beachside places who play loud music (albeit good and live) until 23:00 every night. The highlights for us would be the service which was incredibly nice and helpful. The resident dog was also a big highlight for us as she (Muo Muo) was so sweet. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the facilities were comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who doesn’t have an issue with late night music.

This Hotel is quite new as the driver told us. It's clean, staffs are good and always smiling and helpful. Front counter staffs are excellent and extremely helpful. 管家 Hugh is also helpful. My stay there is excellent and happy.
It's location is near the beach but not recommend for swimming as it has rocks. For swimming and beach activities you may have to walk down a short distance to the neighbouring beach which is open and nice.
Food wise I did not book the hotel food but the bbq seafood buffet seems interesting with lots of varieties. OK now come to the location, you can take a slow walk on a straight road to some eateries which is about 700-800 meters away.
Can see they have quite some restaurant there and a 24 hour dim sum with lots of variations. Only on the last day stay then we discover this. Should have check it out earlier.
There's a few shopping mall nearby but the most popular being 大菠萝 which is about 15 mins drive if you go by car. Has a lot of shops and a supermarket restaurant and a open space night market with lots of foods.
Good hotel to unwind and my stay there is excellent.

I had such a great experience at this hotel in Sanya! The location is perfect—just a short walk to the beach and surrounded by all the spots you’d want to explore. The pool was super nice, perfect for chilling when you don’t feel like heading to the ocean.
The best part? I got upgraded to a better room by the sweetest receptionist ever, Xiaojing 小静 (seriously, she’s the best!). The upgraded room had the most stunning beach view—I didn’t want to leave!
If you’re looking for a spot with amazing vibes and top-notch service, this is it. Can’t wait to come back!

As always Sunshine Resort in Sanya is like a home always from home...but with better cooking :)
From the warm welcome from Vanessa at the front desk...to all the cleaners, wait staff and pool staff..you are treated as a valued visitor.
It is great to see the extra loung chairs at the pool and on the property above the beach and chairs and umbrellas on the beach...well done.
A big benefit is the newly developed bosrdwalk that goes the entire lenght of the beach with plenty of food and drink.
Also....although I do not have kids here..they always have entertainment on the holidays for the young ones.
I will always return the the special...”Sunshine” in Sanya

We've stayed at pearl river garden for 3 nights, overall, we have enjoyed our stay. Everyone at the hotel are so friendly and welcoming from the day we arrived. (Which we value this more than anything) Special shout out to Jim, who has made the stay very memorable.
The room is clean, though not very spacious, but it was ok for us, a family of four.
Great location, probably one of the best locations in the area, easy access to the beach, very family friendly.
The only drawback, if there is any, would be the pungent smell that hits me every time I walk in the room, I'm guessing it's the cleaning chemical they use around the hotel rooms.
All in all, Thank you Jim and everyone in the hotel for looking after us during the stay, will definitely recommend anyone who wishes to stay in the area.

Service of the hotel was very good even though they don’t speak English, they assist you through translation app willing to help. Especially person on the front desk helped us a lot.
Food is delicious, rich variety. Room is clean.
You can walk to the beach. It takes 5-10 mins.
It’s near to the summer and pineapple malls.
There is a free shuttle bus to duty free mall. You can take info from the front desk.
We enjoyed our stay.

AAnonymous UserRegret I haven’t booked Atlantis for the entire stay to be honest. It was 100 dollars more expensive than Crown Plaza, but boy it ended up being a great value for money!
First, plenty of things to do for the entire family with aqua park, aquarium, kids adventures and swimming pools for adults.
Second, cinema and aqua show kind of like cirque du soleil style.
Third, access to imperial lounge made all the difference- was able to chill there and drinks and food are free. So ended up saving massively on food. Actually Atlantis was cheaper than Crown Plaza after all food costs added in.
Fourth, personal butler service. Communicated via WeChat easily and answered all my questions instantly. Shout out to Marina doing a great job! Enough staff speaking both English and Russian. And all signs in the hotel in 3 languages - Chinese, Russian, English. Crown Plaza was not foreigners friendly at all. Eric was the only guy who spoke decent English there. Room service and other services were 100% Chinese. Good I speak basic Mandarin, otherwise would have been tough.
The only disappointment was really closed pools for adults which made me purchase a cabana to be able to enjoy pool access in private and without much loud screams from kids etc. But was not such a big disappointment!
I would stay here exclusively next time. Totally worth the money!

Some few keys I’d like to pinpoint during my stay in this resort. We were staying for 5 nights, from June 1st to 8th.
CLEANLINESS
I’m very surprised with the cleanliness in the room and surrounding areas. Walking through the lobby, garden areas, pool areas and of course the room. You’ll be able to see gardeners, housekeepers, and cleaners doing everything to clean the their areas. This resort is spotless. Five stars for that.
LOCATION
Location is quite far from downtown but enough to go shopping around 68 market/mall. The hotel is connected to the mall where you can find and dine local restaurants. It is good when you’re trying to avoid the pricy meal at the resort. (Go local, get cheaper)
And yes, location from the airport is about 35-45 minutes away. No traffic on the way. But try to avoid some local drivers who’s trying to give you a cheaper price to send you to the hotel. Always check the price on Didi or other app. When using those apps there will be no compromise.
SERVICE
Service. Well, overall it was great! Starting from reception, we were greeted during the arrival with the help of our luggage and stuff and guided us through the lobby. The receptionist attended us during check-in was very attentive and helpful (I didn’t get a chance to check her name). She was very helpful, and even gave us a tour through the map and sent us to the lift to our room.
The young man and young lady at the housekeeping dept. was always ready to help us with what we needed in the room and prepared a honeymoon decoration in the room on the first day with complementary champagne and a fruit basket (Downside: some are telling to give them five stars) but I totally understand as it helps them as well.
Restaurant staff are relatively friendly and helpful. Very welcoming when you coming for breakfast and guide us to our seats. BUT, you’ll need to come earlier than 9. Otherwise, you’ll be lining up outside the restaurant waiting for the vacant seat.
AMENITIES
Amenities are well cleaned and new. Showers and tub are quite new and well maintained. Other things in the resort are basically great.
Swimming at the beach is on your own risk. No lifeguard assigned to watch as it is a public beach. Basically it’s not allowed to go swimming. Haitang bay resorts are all the same. If you’re looking for a resort where you can swim, you need to find somewhere else such as Yalong bay or Wuzhizhou Island.
Overall stay was great.
Just bear in mind, if you’re looking for a hotel or resort for fun this resort is not for you. But if you’re looking for a relaxation and calm holiday this resort is for you.
There are only few entertainment and experience you can have in the resort such as live music during barbecue dinner at the Grand Cafe, dinner in the sky, and show outside the restaurant.

- Lovely tropical gardens.
- Great swimming pool with lots of shaded areas and a transparent kayak.
- Lovely beach with loungers, sunshades and basic amenities (lemonade, towels, beach toys).
- Awesome night views.
- Amazing open-air aquarium with exotic fish and turtles.
- Great amenities for kids (electric vehicles, train, pedal karts, swimming pool floats and boats).
- Friendly and helpful staff.
- Great location near CDF mall.
- Really good breakfast.
Bad:
- I received a significant electric shock just by touching the front tray of the children’s popcorn machine at breakfast. I immediately informed a member of staff whose response made me feel this was not the first time it had happened. They switched off the popcorn machine and said somebody would fix it. 10mins later we saw the machine was switched on again (the staff member said it was fixed).
- The security chain on the door to our room locked itself from the inside after we left the room, so we could not get in when we got back. Had to wait 15-20min for staff to open the chain from the outside, then had to wait another 30-40min for a repairman to replace the old/faulty chain lock - this took a while because the new hardware did not fit properly and the door could not be closed (it was fixed with some loud hammering). The next day, the door couldn’t close again so I had to again wait for a repairman to fix it (more loud hammering).
- A few times we had no response when calling “instant service” on the phone. The WeChat service was also sometimes slower than we’d expected, especially for urgent questions.
- Tired and worn out exterior and interior decoration (faded/peeling paint, damp patches).
- Wobbly fixings (balcony light, toilet paper holder).
- Confusing A/C controls (two control panels, no indication what each one is for)
- Live music started quite late and was loud - we had to close balcony door to let our child sleep.
- Transparent doors to the shower and toilet cubicles.
- Inconsistent service at breakfast (some days very attentive, some days not so).
- No good value lunch or dinner options. I tried a room service salad which was terrible (it used canned beans, canned corn and canned chickpeas, and processed roast chicken) - surprisingly bad value and quality.
- One evening our taxi was not permitted to enter the hotel grounds due to a special event. We had to walk up the long driveway with our (tired) young daughter….it would have been nice for the hotel to offer their electric buggy shuttle from the main road to the lobby.
- After the trip, I received an email with a link to the bill, but this link took me to a web page which said an online bill was unavailable.

AAndeluAmazing hotel, great location and the service was great. It’s a great stay for families and couples. You can spend the whole day exploring the mountains. The only downside I had was the room was infested with geckos that would fall from the ceiling on to the bed net all night, also small critters and insects going through the trash during the night. The worst sleep of the trip. I understand it’s in a jungle habitat but this place is a resort so I was expecting a bit more cleanliness in the room as well as the room being sealed properly for the price.

SSuntikaI stayed at the Shangri-La Sanya to celebrate a friend’s birthday over the weekend.
We booked the Club King Room which came with a lot of free activities and saved us a lot.
Check in was smooth as I was helped By Guest Relations Supervisor, Dora and her colleague Nancy. They were kind, attentive and professional.
The hotel has a mini supermarket in Building 1, which was nice.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel was incredible. I would suggest S.E.A restaurant it’s a Southeast Asian Restaurant.
I feel the hotel failed my expectations in two area:
1. The spread offered at afternoon was limited and if you didn’t arrive on time you had to wait about 10-20 mins for the next batch of food to come out.
2. At Happy Hour in the club lounge, there was a few bottles of hard liquor, chilled prosecco and wine. However?l, once the bottle was empty it was replaced with another fresh bottle.
Other than that, my friend and I had an amazing stay and was definitely worth it.

BBrittany PaigeBanyan Tree, my home away from home ❤️ This was one of our best trips all because of the incredible facilities and services that Banyan Tree offers. You are treated like royalty from the moment you enter the grounds till even after we left. We forgot 2 items in our villa and the amazing ladies have shipped it back to us. The ladies at the front desk were amazing the buggy drivers were so helpful and the spa was incredible!!! We didn’t get everyone’s names but Acco on reception, Summer and Anna in the spa were some of the kindest hosts. Every staff member we interacted with, was so welcoming, helpful and friendly. Overall Banyan Tree is a 12/10. The hotel wins for us in all the small details like our welcome gifts, fresh fruit daily, daily pool cleaning and fresh towels and robes.
The one and only feeling I have that isn’t 100% positive is the food prices at the hotel. Just be prepared for expensive food, especially if you want steak.

AAnonymous UserI have mixed feelings about this place. The best part is the location. You are on a main road with many shops, restaurants and bus stops as well as the beach. I also liked the pool despite it being a little too shallow. The view from my balcony was also great.
One problem was cleanliness. Never walk around the room barefoot cause your feet will get dirty. It also looked like the crockery and kitchen utensils were not cleaned before I arrived. As you can see some of the utensils were dusty!
Hot water was another issue. Obviously you need hot water to properly wash your hands and dirty dishes. However I only had hot water in the shower, not in the kitchen nor bathroom sink.
This leads to my next issue which is service. I told the staff about the lack of hot water on the Friday and they said they would fix it at some point during the day while I am out with my friend. I come back at roughly 9pm to find out there is still no hot water. On Saturday morning I remind them to fix it before I go out again, hoping when I return I will have hot water. While I'm at the beach I miss a call from them. Turns out instead of fixing the issue, they want to move me to another room with hot water. When I return from the beach I saw the message and told them I am ready to move to the new room. But they replied saying I was too late and they gave the room to someone else. (If I did take that room, does that mean the other guest would have my room and have to suffer with cold water instead of me?) Instead of taking responsibility for not providing hot water or trying to fix it, the staff tried to blame me and said I can't get hot water cause I was too busy to answer their calls. When I pushed back on that comment their next excuse was that a lack of hot water is a common problem in Hainan? But then they said they would check if there was a free room with hot water the next day (Sunday). However, they never contacted me about that again so I just gave up trying. If they couldn't fix the problem, they could have at least offered me compensation but they didn't. This experience made me feel dismissed and unimportant as a paying guest.
To sum up, I wouldn't stay here again based on my experience. If they were to give me a room with hot water in the shower AND in both sinks, that's great. However, I would still have to deal with dirty floors and cookware + tableware. It's definitely not the worst place I've stayed in but regardless it didn't meet my standards so I still wouldn't stay here if I return to Sanya. Disappointing.

GGuest UserThis was our first time in this hotel and we enjoyed a lot! The staff is really kind. Apple could speak English and she offered an upgrade for the room during check in. The view was amazing. But especially Beck helped us a lot, resolving all our doubts or questions. He was great for us to spend a great time. The breakfast at the hotel is really good, with a lot of options ( noodles, guangdong steam, a bakery room…). The hotel has 4-5 pools, one of them with slides. And there was a foam show everyday 17-18h. The beach , 5 minutes walking was wonderful: clean, almost empty. What we also liked was all the plants around the hotel. There were also a hainan restaurant and Chongqing hotpot. We are looking forwards to come back very soon! We loved this hotel!

KKhafizovRooms and furniture need renovation. Water supply and sewerage need renovation. Breakfast is varied but tasteless (in my opinion). Traditional meal noodles, the person who cooks noodles does it as if he is serving a sentence and does it with contempt, arrogance (in my opinion). The hotel location near to the sea, but this beach is not intended for swimming. The staff at reception did not solve any issues, some bonuses were included in the stay, but it was not possible to use them due to the lack of interest of the staff. All attractions, shops and restaurants are located within 20 minutes walking distance. At Yalong bay the best place for stay is on the western side of the bay.

GGuest UserYou can go and experience it for yourself to see if it's good or not. I won't say too much. The location is excellent, very close to the beach, the boss is very nice, he was still sending me red envelopes at 11pm, chatting with me, and hoping that I would be in a good mood during the New Year.
I just want to confirm one thing with you, are there no hot water in the washbasins in the bathrooms in Sanya? (My boss told me this) I am ignorant and have never seen the world, so I would like to confirm this with you.
