"It's not too far from the city center, and the overall environment and facilities are decent, offering good value for money. You need to make your own bed, and take your sheets to the front desk to put in the designated recycling bag when you check out. The hot water in the shower takes a very long time to come out, and it can get a bit cold in winter. There's a kitchen where you can cook, but you need to wash the food yourself. I booked breakfast included, but the front desk said it wasn't included. I had to check out in a hurry early in the morning, so it's best to confirm with the front desk on the night of your check-in and get a breakfast card."

"The hotel's main and undeniable advantage is its location, literally a stone's throw from Rouen Cathedral, yet still quite close to a bus stop (FlixBus and BlablacarBus). The hotel is small and has no elevator (an important consideration for some). The staff is incredibly friendly. The room includes a mini-fridge and ironing board (an iron can be borrowed on the floor, and a kettle is also available there). The bed linens and towels are spotless. On the downside, it's very loud from the hallway, there's no air conditioning (but I didn't need it during my stay), and there's a bar in the neighboring courtyard, whose patrons, unfortunately, can be heard until quite late. Overall, for the price, it's an excellent option for a few nights."

"After booking, we received a request for an arrival time and what room we needed. We were told we wanted a double bed, as we were arriving at the hotel around 7 PM and requested a view of Rouen Cathedral. We were told we could see it from the window. Upon arrival, the young man at reception informed us that our reservation was for one person in a single room!!! He presented a voucher stating that it stated two people in a "Comfort" room! Ultimately, they put us in room 25, which has a concrete wall and a wall-to-wall bed overlooking the windows of the neighboring building. We went down to reception and asked to be upgraded to the room we had booked, but they told us the only room left was a room with two single beds. I asked to go up and look, and the young man, very reluctantly and with obvious irritation, led us to room 23 (which is what we ended up staying in). Everything in the room was broken... The closet door had a loose screw, the shower stall was leaking, the foot towel didn't work, the beds didn't fit together. I never want to go back to a hotel like that... Especially because of the interaction with the staff."

"The Mercure Rouen Hotel is located in the city center, within walking distance of all attractions and food streets. The hotel itself is a typical older European hotel; the facilities and cleanliness are fairly basic, not quite what you'd expect from a four-star hotel. But these are secondary issues. The biggest problem is that most people come here by car, and parking is expensive (19 euros even in the suburbs). You absolutely must confirm the hotel's address with them before you can use the password to enter; otherwise, like us, we wandered around for two hours without finding the entrance. Only after finding the hotel did we get the correct address from the navigation and the password to enter, and the parking lot was extremely small. It was a real ordeal."
