Lodge Deseado

The Lodge Desado was undoubtedly the highlight of our Chilean adventure. It is located on the edge of Lago Deseado which is almost as far South as you can get in Chile. Its remote location is a large part of its charm and it is very peaceful. For example, it is about 285 km to the nearest reliable petrol source so make sure you have a spare petrol can if you are driving! Our cabin was large and very well appointed on the edge of the lake with great views from the large bedroom window and terrace area. When we arrived we were greeted with a wonderful late afternoon meal which included a large fish/seafood platter, followed by large main course of lamb and dessert. No need for evening meal after that! The food was exceptional throughout our four night stay and how they were able to provide meals of such quality in such a remote location remains a mystery to my wife and I. The main thing to mention was the brilliant team of staff who were extremely friendly and helpful, taking us on walks, drive, cycle rides, and fishing expeditions across the lake in a rib. This Lodge is a piece of remote luxury which is not to be missed if you are exploring Southern Chile.

This is the only lodge on the island - roads are rarely paved and anlways uneven for the 8 hrs it takes from the ferry to get here - completely remote, beautiful lake with 1/2 day hikes in situe. When weather is cold and rainy, staff has to cope with hikers getting nowhere - bring your own projects as you’ll need them! Our trip to navigation to a glacier was canceled due to bad weather - real bummer - wish we had planned to go earlier in our itinerary - 2 nd day. Kayaks for guests would be great! More local trails too. Food has to travel a long way to get here - cont complain but there could be a little more variety. menu was always the same! Need to know more about who has lived here - flora, fauna, people? Why? Guanacos live in these woods cuz there are no pumas! Got a great geology overview from guide - our guy for the 4 days, nacho Great smiles after staying here; warm hospitality. Local owners. Wind delayed our ferry for over 6 hrs - wish we had prepared for this!!

Un lugar maravilloso, ubicado en Tierra del Fuego, Chile, a orillas del Lago Deseado. Ideal para pasar unos días con amigos, realizando actividades como trekking, pesca, paseos en bicicleta o simplemente descansar, apreciando las maravillosas vistas que nos ofrece el Lodge. Todo el personal muy atento a cualquier requerimiento o duda y muy cariñoso. Muchas gracias a Jorge, su administrador; Isa, que nos deleitó con sus platos; Cata y Seba, quienes nos acompañaron en todas nuestras aventuras. Caras visibles de un equipo extraordinario de personas que hicieron de nuestro viaje una experiencia que nos dejó con gusto a poco y con ganas de volver.
