Turnberry Boutique Hotel

Waited 4 minutes before anyone came to us at reception although they saw us. Room had a vial smell, Towel on bed was damp, TV was blurry and half screen was just green, when room opened the cleaning equipment was obscuring entrance. We asked for another room but none was available. I will never ever recommend this place

It was Boxing Day and we booked a sleepover. Only 1 person was on duty at the hotel. We were received in a friendly manner and handed the keys to our room. We had been on the road all day and were keen to shower and rest. After a very short shower, the bathroom flooded, and the water ran into the room and all over the carpets. We mopped up as best we could with the towels in the room - turns out the shower drain was completely blocked. We brought this to the attention of the front desk, who promptly upgraded us to a family room, where everything worked. With this, we waited by the bar and hoped to order a drink to while away the time while the room situation was being prepared, and so were several other guests hoping to order a drink. Because there was only 1 person on duty (and he tried very hard, and was very friendly and apologetic, so kudos to him), there was nobody to serve drinks at the bar. Several guests were understandably irritated with this and reverted to buying drinks at a nearby restaurant. It is evident that the hotel was originally built with a good budget and there is a lot of solid wood furnishings and fittings, which, while by now quite dated, looked of solid quality. However, everywhere we looked, the hotel was in dire need of proper maintenance. We did our part by pulling some weeds out the garden. An old sun umbrella had been laying on the pool pump cover for what appeared to be forever. The hotel carpets, while of a good quality, were desperately in need of deep cleaning. The lace curtains in our room were brown and dirty. The television in our upgrade room had been removed and moved into the kiddies' annex, but no TV was fitted in the main bedroom and the unsightly brackets and wires were just left on the wall. At least the beds were comfy and clean with crisp white linen, and the air conditioner worked a charm in the Karoo heat. I cannot understand how, during peak season, the hotel owners thought it appropriate to have only a single employee on duty to run everything. The next morning, we did see some cleaners coming in but overall, this hotel is in need of some maintenance, love and care. It's a pity, really, because the basic structure and location are great. It is just poorly run by its owners. We will never stay there again.

Not very friendly staff at all. Nothing has been explained or showed us around. The mini bar fridge could not open as it was jammed. Not much of TV channels. Not really value for money.

The property was clean, the service was excellent on arrival, the room was clean, the location was close by to the civic center where we were attending our event

We attended the pass out parade, best experience ever. It was my first time visiting Oudtshoorn and the experience is beyond my expectation.

The room we stayed in on 10 August is in a horrible state. Bathroom fittings are all lose. The shower floor is filthy and the toilet floor had water on it ( we called the supervisor on arrival to view but no action) . The coffee cupboard door was hanging loose . The ceiling is stained with water damage. The seat on front of mirror was dirty and so was the carpet. Light fittings are not all operational . Internet was extremely weak to nothing. To call this a "Boutique Hotel " is misleading .
