Ulasan Nikko Kanaya Hotel

Been visiting family in Tokyo for 6 weeks and finished our holiday with 2 night stay in Nikko. What a wonderful place to end our time in Japan. Hotel beautiful, service impeccable, food delicious and two perfect old fashion and sidewinder cocktails mixed in the cosy bar. Look forward to hopefully returning next year .

Historic old hotel near major shrines and Shinkyo bridge. Unique to the area. Not a chain hotel.

Arriving at the train station, I found out the shuttle bus for the hotel wouldn't arrive for another 45 minutes, so we opted to walk there. It takes about half an hour but going uphill in the blazing sun was a bit torturous. The driveway is also very steep, so beware if you have a lot of baggage. Hotel has a wealth of history. It hosted a lot of famous guests in the early 20th century. Modern hotels are sterile in comparison. It's an old building, so is draughty and full of ancient furniture. This may be a turnoff for some but I found it completely charming.

The location is very good for sightseeing and quiet. We expected more proactive service in a 4-star-hotel. (We had to make up our beds on our own, even after confirmation that the room should be cleaned up. Surprising in a 4-star-hotel.) The facilities are historic, yes, but also not well cared. It is a shame that the wooden furniture or the wooden elements like window sills are not renovated.

Fantastic historical hotel, quite Unique. Delightful art work and wooden carvings. Surprisingly the menu seemed to be only in Japanese.

I was able to stay in a historical building. I was surprised to hear that the original two-story building had been dug underground to create a third floor. I was able to spend some quiet time enjoying the locally produced food.

The hotel has a long history, beautiful environment and rich historical atmosphere. Western-style dining is a major feature that is unforgettable. The hotel is not far from various attractions and is convenient for walking!

The staff has a good service attitude, the room is comfortable and spacious, the Family Bath doesn't look big, but it is deep enough to fully meet the needs of a family of three (two adults and one child) taking a bath together.

This is a hotel where famous people such as Einstein stayed in the last century. There is a history gallery and museum in the hotel. It is clean and the service is very good. They will personally lead guests to the door of the room. The room is relatively large compared to Japanese hotels. However, the disadvantage is that the facilities are relatively old, with a small TV and two small beds, and there is no socket next to the bed, so you can only charge on the table. It is suitable for a short experience of one or two days, not for long-term stay, but no one comes to Nikko for a long time.

It is a hotel with a historical atmosphere. If you are good at English and Japanese, you will experience more. It is very close to the Shinkyo Bridge. The hotel service responded promptly and the attitude was good. The well-received Western food is really good. The marbled steak tastes amazing. The Japanese red trout is not impressive at first, but I actually like it haha. In short, both sets are quite satisfactory. The breakfast is a simple carbohydrate satisfaction, and the butter is good. I give satisfaction points for both meals. The deluxe room is large and the equipment is relatively new. The bedding is soft and thick. There is no dissatisfaction with other things such as bathroom hot water, toiletries, air conditioning temperature, room odor, etc. I left the hotel to play and stored the gift. When I returned, I asked the hotel to help call a taxi. Due to the evening rush hour, I didn’t make an appointment for the car, but the hotel waiter kept trying to make a call. In the end, he was very sorry and gave the taxi company card for our subsequent use. In short, it is a recommended hotel to stay in Nikko.

With its classic atmosphere and attentive service, I was able to spend a wonderful time. I was very satisfied with the rare experience of staying at a cultural property.

The hotel is strategically located next to the Holy Bridge, opposite two temples and one shrine. It is very convenient to visit attractions. The 150-year-old hotel provides French food for dinner and Western breakfast, which is quite good. The bathroom in the room is small and the facilities are a bit basic. Many celebrities have lived there.

I finally arrived at the coveted Kanaya Hotel! It's a classic hotel with a sense of history. The room felt old, but it was clean, including the bathroom. And the breakfast and dinner were really delicious. Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Nikko Station are both within walking distance, so it was a blink of an eye when I walked and shopped. When I checked in around 5pm, they were just doing a hotel tour, so I joined halfway through. I enjoyed hearing about the hotel's history. I'd definitely like to visit again.
