Nice large river view room. Bathroom dated we had a problem with bath plug got stuck so had to call reception who promptly came and hit plug with large screwdriver to release it. Before the receptionist left room i tried it to ensure we could have bath and water would drain away. Plug stuck again looking at it it had several gouges in metal where it has obviously hit on numerous occasions to free it. This meant we could not have a bath and only shower because closing the plug hole it became firmly stuck. Not good enough repairs should be carried out. Shower gel top fell off and went down plug hole so we could only wash in shampoo.

Me and my husband staied there very recently , the hotel is clean but very old and the amenities are very poor . We booked a classic room the room was large and spacious but very old furniture and the bathroom too was very old . The amenities were very poor there was no comp tap water in the room which I found it very strange as is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. Staff was nice very indifferent though they did not give any information about breakfast time or WiFi and they did not ask the purpose of our stay( maybe because we were not British ) . Overall was nice stay but not 4 star hotel.

The Copthorne is in an excellent location - near to station, restaurants, etc. It was very warm and inviting on a chilly November weekend.

Stayed one night - bank holiday Sunday in a Club double room with full English buffet breakfast and a drinks voucher each included. We stayed in room 511 which seemed slightly more spacious than other rooms of this type however only had a partial river view due to being at the end of the corridor. On booking we had requested to have additional pillows for the bed and this was done for our arrival. A very good overnight stay in a hotel located within easy walking distance of bars and restaurants on the quayside. Will be a returning guest .

Great location for a city centre night out , very relaxing hotel with lovely views of the river from the room and bar/restaurant. All food and drinks very nice reasonably priced , cheaper than some Bars in town. Really good value two course Sunday lunch. Came away very relaxed

The room is clean and tidy, the air conditioner is a bit noisy, and the shower room is a bit crowded for tall people

Lovely hotel, Great location for town centre. The standard room itself was clean and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable too. Would recommend. Got a great price on it too. Staff at the front desk were friendly and welcoming.

Great location at the side of the river ,our only down side was ,to get to the town ,it's up hill ,my partner not good a walking up hills

Hotel location was great, check-in was quick and easy, reception staff were very helpful when I struggled to book a taxi. The young lady working on housekeeping the 2 days we stayed was extremely lovely, chatted to us about the hotel food and was very complimentary about it, told us about the local area and some places to visit, she is an absolute asset to the hotel.

The Copthorne was just about OK. We stayed on a Sunday night when occupancy rates would be low with plenty of availability. Yet we were assigned a 5th floor room close to a metro railway bridge which ran till midnight and was very noisy. The room was cold. Breakfast next morning was plentiful but forgettable. Self service for everything. Not even a pot of tea or toast served to the table. Not what I expect from a 4 star hotel. How are the stars earned/allocated?. I wouldnot be in a hurry to return. It was situated next door to a Travellodge which could have been booked for half the price and who's services I suspect would have been as good if not better.
