What a dump. We arrived Friday night and were in a rush to get out as we had a gig to go to. It wasn't until we returned that I realised what a dump the place is. The 2nd internal door to the room was not flush to the floor and is a fire risk. One plug socket had obviously been blown by an appliance and was scorched, another fire risk. The room was freezing cold with just 1 useless radiator, and 1 very small oil filled type of electric powered heater. It was so cold that we slept in our clothes. Next time I'll pay a tenner more for a better place.

1 night stay, room & bed clean on the surface. Tv, kettle & microwave in room. Bathroom needs a good scrub especially shower head. Toilet didn't flush fully, needed a bin in bathroom especially for women. As shower looked dirty we didn't use it. Disturbing nights sleep from other guests screaming / banging / messing about and slamming doors. No staff around to report this too & in middle of night not much they could have done really. Wish they'd just have respect. Towels provided in room. Give the hallway a little make over & it would feel little less glum. We used it as a base so suited our needs. Close ish to centre & not too far away from St james park. Didn't see staff around in morning so we checked out & left key. Not much noise from the pub just noisy guests so due to them we didn't have a great night's sleep but bed was comfy & right amount of pillows provided for my self & daughter.

GREAT. If you're looking for 5 star, go elsewhere. The people here are second to none. Nothing whatsoever is a problem. The Cog & Wheel pub is superb. We are leaving tomorrow after a long weekend and will 100% be back. An absolute gem.

Do not stay in this hotel. Hanson Hotel above cog and wheel. It is disgusting. The roof leaks. Nobody bothered to tell us and the leak soaked the kitchen sides and floor. Yes, the leak was that bad it soaked the kitchen floor! My clothes were on the side. Also where I charged my phone and Apple Watch. It’s also freezing (not heating) and smells of foist. Plus management don’t bother to get back to you.

Really impressive place, seeing as it was part of a popular pub - I was a little bit reluctant at first. There wasn’t any noise disruption, the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Smart tv in room allowed Netflix, prime & YouTube - Also microwave, kettle, fridge in room all seemed like an added bonus. Food & drinks were also very good & well presented I recommend the snoop cogg burger for food & whiskey sour for drink. If I’m ever back in Newcastle, I will deffo be recommending this place to my friends and family

Excellent budget priced accommodation. Clean good sized room with TV and microwave. Atmospheric pub downstairs 2 for 1 on drinks Tuesday evenings, not noisy as rooms 2 floors up. No parking but pay site near
