A picture may say a thousand words, but pictures can also deceive... and any pictures of the rooms at Anchor Inn are an absolute touchup job of the real thing. The paint is peeling from the ceiling, smells of urine in the room, old blankets, pillows and mattresses, etc etc. I paid more for a room with a larger tub and steam room. When I arrived, I was told that the steam room wasn't working. It was clear that it hadn't worked in a looooong time, but, of course, they still advertised it. And the breakfast they advertise... it isn't breakfast... it was stale non-NYC bagels and some cheap muffins. The best part of this hotel was the Starbucks across the street. All in all, maybe the owner is genuinely doing his best... but can't keep up with it. But, he/she certainly isn't lowering the prices. Worst part... the smell in the room. I don't get allergies very often, but within ten minutes of walking into our room, I was really feeling it.
