Payne's Harbor View Inn

Very friendly staff that was so helpful. Clean rooms with a great view. Great location located just far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough to easily get there. Bottom line: They really care about your stay being special and go the extra mile.

We had an outstanding stay at Payne’s Harbor View in from start to finish! We came over on the ferry from Montauk arriving at the Inn around 11 o’clock. We were warmly welcomed by Carmen who showed us all around the property and encouraged us to make ourselves comfortable in the beautifully appointed common rooms and gorgeous grounds until our room was ready. We stayed in room four, which was a lovely large room with a deck overlooking the harbor. Breakfast both mornings were delicious and Paynes famous donuts were included. (I haven’t eaten a doughnut in 20 years and I had three while I was here!) Everything about this inn is top-notch Anything you could possibly need is taken care of. Wine and highball glasses, bags of ice, refrigerators for your use, tea and delicious homemade cookies in the afternoon, beach chairs and beach towels also provided. The entire place was meticulously clean. Carmen’s sister-in-law Katie has an in-room massage business called Drift. I had a 75 minute massage that was one of the best I’ve ever experienced. Block Island is a truly special place and I am blessed to have spent our 40th anniversary with my husband at this beautiful inn.

First time staying at the Inn. We had a beautiful spacious room that was so clean! Carmen was so nice and accommodating. A great place to stay for peace and relaxation. Walking distance from restaurants and things to do. We hope to be back in the fall. Thank you!!!

This is our third time staying at Payne's Harborview Inn, and we love it. Carmen, Kevin and staff make our stay so pleasurable and memorable. The location is perfect between the Old Harbor and New Harbor. Walking and biking is a breeze - we didn't need a car. We rented bikes from Aldo's located near the Oar House, and Leo gave us a great deal for our family of 4 for the week - we also got a great deal on the mopeds (early morning 3 hrs). Getting back to the Inn...the breakfasts are terrific as well as the Payne's killer donuts! We played cornhole a lot on their beautiful lawn overlooking the harbor. It is easy to bike to the beach from there and run into town. In the late afternoon there are freshly baked cookies - yum. We enjoyed our room on the 3rd floor and the nice toiletries in the beautiful roomy bathroom. We love the history of this Inn, and Carmen's family - her great, great grandmother lived in the North Lighthouse - amazing! We will be back again in the future - an absolute gem♡☆

We typically visit Block Island by boat, but wanted to experience the island a different way. We made a great decision in spending Columbus Day weekend at Payne's Harbor View Inn. The Inn was extremely clean and quiet. Our room was very large and super clean. The bedding was comfortable. The morning breakfast offered a variety of foods and was delicious. The Inn is in a great location; within walking distance to the marinas, beaches, restaurants and downtown. We would highly recommend staying at this beautiful Inn.

Carmen and the Inn staff were so warm and inviting, the building design provided lovely private space for family time inside and outside on the west-facing deck and lawn with ample chairs. The sunset over Great Salt Pond was beautiful. This is our new favorite location on Block Island - a must-stay for future visits!

One of, if not the, cleanest inns I’ve ever stayed in. Very nice staff. The room was perfect for the two of us. Having beach towels and chairs available to us was a nice bonus. Breakfast was standard, though if I had to nitpick I wish they had some fresh fruit. The donuts were great.

Stayed at Payne’s Harbor View Inn over Labor Day weekend! The staff was friendly and attentive. There is a place to leave luggage if need be until check in time. They offer complimentary beach chairs and towels for their guests. The inn itself was so charming, cozy and inviting. The location is convenient and the views breath taking. There is a common area living room for guests to gather in and relax. Each guest room has its own unique decor and charm, exactly how an inn should be. Lots of attention to detail. There’s front porch sitting and back deck and lawn seats to just sit back, relax and for a simple moment in time, not have a care in the world. The dining/breakfast room was a fabulous way to start our days on the Block. The dining room is bright and airy with the island breeze flowing through the wide open French doors that lead to the back deck where you can sit and take in the views of the boats in the harbor. They offer a complimentary breakfast consisting of coffee/tea, juices, mimosas, bloodymarys, bagels, toast selection, eggs, yogurt with fresh fruits and granola AND the most delicious freshly made warm donuts from Payne’s donuts. Yum! I highly recommend a stay here. You will not regret it!

Payne's Harbor View Inn far exceeded our expectations in every category! First of all, this was the cleanest and most well kept inn (or hotel) I've ever seen...I dare you to try to find a spec of dirt, dust or cobb web. More importantly, the service was impeccable. The owners and employees attitude was out standing, they clearly understand what hospitality is and provide it a very high level. Everyone ensured we were comfortable and that we had every need met. I can't wait to return.
