Peppertree Terraces are in a lovely old brick building in a central location (though next door to an early-opening petrol station). When we entered, having at last having got the door key code after difficult "pre check in" procedures, the unit was very cold. We looked in vain for a heater in the kitchen / dining room and then walked to the end of the hallway and saw an air conditioning control on the wall. We were glad that it looked the same as one we had used earlier in our road trip, but it did not work for us. We went out for a short while and tried again when we returned. We looked up a phone number to call and got through to somebody who said she would come to have a look. She arrived quite soon, but she was unable to get the aircon working. She said that she could be able to do it remotely from the office. This was not successful and then she said she would tell a maintenance person. We spent that evening very cold, rugged up on the sofa until we went early to bed, as yes, the beds had electric blankets! The next morning, minus temperature outside and still no heating for us. We spent more of the day outside than we had intended as it was far too cold in the unit. We popped back a couple of times to see if the heating had started working, but no. We had no idea if it could or would be fixed and were thinking of trying to find some other accommodation. We rang the office again - "Oh, she should have rung you" we were told. The news was that someone was coming later in the afternoon. Out we went again and when we came back next, there was at last warm air in the unit. We understand that things can go wrong, but we were very disappointed that most of the time that we were in the unit we were very cold and were not offered any sort of heater as even a temporary measure, or any compensation for not being able to use the unit as a comfortable place to stay, as paid for. We are now home from our trip, but still have received no response from any manager/owner.
