Casa Divina Eco Lodge

We love eco-lodges and much about Casa Divina was terrific - the birdwatching with Efrain, the cloud forest, the fast turnaround on laundry. Good location - walking distance (or a $3 can) to town or the butterfly reserve. And it was the only place in Ecuador, including 4 star hotels, where we could flush our toilet paper. But the food (other than the fruit smoothies) was mediocre and the bedding worn.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Divina. The property is large and right in the cloud forest so you can enjoy fully immersing into nature. The included breakfast was delicious. The room itself was comfortable with plenty of space and clean. It’s a convenient short walk to the teleférico where you can then easily access the cable car to great hiking trails. We would take taxis into town which were easily available and very cheap. We really enjoyed the attentive service provided by Lady.

Mindo was the highlight of our 2 week visit to Ecuador, and Casa Divina was the perfect place to stay. We thought the property was beautiful, we truly enjoyed the activities that were available, the staff was very helpful & friendly, and the food was always good. Our family of 6 adults spent 2 nights at Casa Divina, occupying 3 of their Deluxe Suites (queen sized beds). The rooms had nice views, and were spacious & equipped with everything we needed. They were a nice balance between comfort and camping. Wi-Fi in the rooms Wawa weak, but that wasn’t much of an issue for us. Onsite we did a night time tour of the property (with Dan) to look for creepy, crawly things, and that great fun. And in the early morning we did a bird watching tour (with Jorge) and that was also fantastic. Walking distance from the property we took chair lifts up the mountain, and that led to a nice hike to see waterfalls. Our rate came with breakfast, and at night we had dinner on the property; we also had lunch there one day. The food was served family style, and we thought it was tasty, healthy and plentiful. I wished we would have stayed in Mindo a bit longer, and I’d easily stay at Casa Divina again.

This place feels like a tropical oasis the minute you enter the property. I’m talking about lush, green, vibrant landscaping surrounding the lodge. You immediately feel like you are in another world, especially if you are coming in from Quito. There is a stream that runs through the property so there is constant white noise, which I loved. And if you wake up early enough, you can hang out at the rooftop and watch all the colorful bird life out and about. It’s a feast for the eyes and ears. The rooms themselves were also equally beautiful. You can tell everything was thoughtfully placed and handcrafted. The rooms had a log cabin meets tropical feel to it. There is an immediate sense of peace that you can feel once you enter the room for the first time. It was much needed change in scenery for my fiancé and I after hectic, but fun, Quito adventures. While everything was beautiful, I think the highlight of this place is the staff. The staff were super attentive and were always available to answer any questions. Shout out to Marta, the cook. I am a huge meat eater, and even I was amazed at the chefs vegetarian dishes. The food served here is local and the quality of the food is amazing, and healthy to boot! Not very easy to do.

I forgot to leave a review when we went months ago but had to come back to write something for these lovely folks. I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and not only was it incredibly beautiful, the staff made it a lovely stay. They brought her out a little birthday surprise when we had our first dinner there, and were ceaselessly attentive. If I could live here, I would in a heartbeat. The food is incredible, the lodge is peaceful, the rooms are clean and amazing, and there is so much attention to detail that leaves you wanting for nothing. Definitely book some of their excursions, and make sure you get up early in the morning to see the birds from the top floor of the lodge.

This lodge was beautiful and everything my husband and I wanted and needed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. Walking the path to the main lodge and to our lodging was so serene and beautiful with so much flora and fauna. Bird-watching from my balcony was my favorite pastime. Highly recommend and we can not wait to visit again.
