AluaSoul Menorca - Adults Only

We made a last minute decision to take a short break in Menorca for the bank holiday weekend after checking weather forecasts. We booked Friday evening & flew out less than 12 hours later. The reception area was bright and welcoming & the staff advised us that as our room wasn’t ready we could go across the road to the pool for refreshments & to relax. On arrival at Pura Beach it was explained that we could sit anywhere (except where towels denoted reservations)and they showed us the drink menu for All Inclusive & where to get snacks. At no point were we asked for extra payment, I don’t know if that is because the hotel was quiet with it being early in the season. We then had a lovely lunch in the restaurant then returned to relax at the beach club until the room was ready. We had opted for a garden suite with plunge pool & it was perfect to relax, although we weren’t shown where we could get drinks from we soon discovered ‘my favourite club’ and took some drinks from there to restock our fridge, The staff were all very friendly & helpful, everywhere in the hotel feels immaculately clean. The resort is VERY small & VERY quiet but we would definitely return for a short break out of season.

Our expectations with this hotel did not meet reality or the normal Hyatt experience. This is just an average hotel. The rooms are very basic and a bit musty smelling. AC is European AC! Thankfully it was not too hot. The towel situation was ridiculous. You got 2 pool towels (which are handled by the front desk) and give a deposit. You need to get your lounge chair early or you’ll never get one. The quality of the towels are horrendous, including room towels. Beds were not the most comfortable and pillows stank. We did do AI and the food was very good as was the entertainment at night. We just expect a higher standard from Hyatt than this hotel offered.

I had to give this review 1 star as I couldn’t leave half a star. Upon checking in there was an additional tax fee to pay, which is fair enough but after we paid (in cash) we didn’t get any change. When we asked about the change they basically flatly refused to give us any change. That set the tone for an abysmal stay that thankfully was only for 4 nights. The staff were uncaring in general and the restaurant served barely edible food and virtually nothing if you don’t want to eat meat. It was probably one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had in a hotel.

Fantastic Hotel. Clean and comfortable. Food amazing, plenty of choice and well presented. Pool area amazing. Biggest asset is the staff particularly Alexa who is a perfect host. Carmen in the restaurant and last Dale a hardworking, polite welcoming and even when under pressure in the bar had the biggest smile

We arrived to be told the room wouldn't be ready until 3pm. We returned to find the room was not the twin we had booked. After a delay a room was found on the ground floor, even though we had booked a balcony. Please note there are steps throughout hotel that was not mentioned. We counted from reception over 20 stone steps to get to our room which was many split levels. The room was kept clean throughout stay. The pool is stunning with sunbeds but you need to pay to use as they don't belong to the hotel. The pool area for hotel is actually the kiddie pool so we were told by those who were returning for a stst and were surprised by the changes. After a chance conversation we found we could use facilities at the sister hotel up the road. Saved the holiday as there was no real entertainment or shops, restaurants near our hotel only two small supermarket and locals restaurant. Another chance conversation told us of local bus that takes you to capital Mahon for 1.80 euros. Well worth doing a beautiful city. Poor value for money due to unexpected costs. Mosquitoes attacked prob due to time of year.

We have just returned from staying at the Alua Soul Menorca, after reading many reviews, I was a little worried about staying here, but thought the hotel may have turned things around. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, unless you want a completely quiet, fairly boring holiday. We paid extra for ‘my favourite club’ which allows you priority check in, a welcome bottle of fizz, a private ‘my favourite club area’ and a pool on your balcony. I can honestly say the room was amazing, as was our pool area…but we didn’t get priority check in or welcome bottle of fizz or but asked for this on our 2nd day. You did get a bottle of ‘welcome water’ but this is not replenished. The my favourite club area wasn’t what we thought it would be, it’s just a room where you self serve, there was some small baguettes, pastries, beer and fizz. Food was good, plenty of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner! We were a bit of a walk away from the main pool, which meant if we wanted to take full advantage of our all inclusive, it meant we had to keep walking back and forth to the pool bar area, or stay by the main pool area but it was very quiet and not the holiday vibe we were personally after. Opposite our room was dinky’s bar, you have to pay for this, it opens at 6pm, some nights it didn’t open at all, and some nights no entertainment. The main pool was lovely and clean but very quiet, no music, no entertainment. Cocktails are all pre made and tasted like they had little or no alcohol in them, pool snacks weren’t great! In the mornings, they had a couple of pastries, apples and yoghurts, and afternoon, a few mini pizzas and half baguettes. Most of the staff were friendly and pleasant. We were interested in doing an excursion whilst there, and when we asked the lady at reception, she didn’t seem bothered at all and said there’s not much to do!! We asked the same lady for an iron/ironing board on the 2nd day and we were told it would be delivered by 5pm, nothing came. There isnt much to do around either, there are a couple of restaurants and a great supermarket. The restaurant called piccolo Mundo is amazing, however a bit of a rocky path and I would recommend getting back to the hotel before dark! (Unless there is another route) Overall, we wouldn’t stay here again. But it’s perfect for some people. It has a lot of potential!
