Riad Persephone

I arrived at this riad and received no welcome whatsoever. It's the first riad in 5 years of visiting Marrakech where I haven't been offered mint tea and a warm welcome. I was by myself and was left to carry two heavy bags up numerous flights if stairs to the rooftop. The following morning I had a tour booked but before leaving for the coach, the female at the desk demanded the city tax money. I offered my bank card and she refused it saying cash only before 3.00. I had to go to the square for the cash and queued ages. I missed my tour and when I arrived back to the riad, the woman on the desk blanked me completely and it took 10 minutes for her to acknowledge me and take my money. I immediately felt quite upset at her abrupt tone and disrespect and began to feel very unwelcome. The following day, I had back pain and sat in the courtyard. The same woman asked what I was waiting for. I said I was resting my back! She suggested that I bought a quad biking activity off her and think positive. I said it's not the best idea today and she became verbally aggressive in Arabic. Immediately, I booked a flight home because I was too upset to stay. I was left to carry the heavy bags back down from the rooftop in terrible pain. I was ignored and when I asked for a cup of mint tea whilst waiting for the taxi, I was told they couldn't make me any. This is an expensive riad and I lost a lot of money. I have complained so that other visitors are treated better. I saw activities being pushed on an elderly man also. There was one very nice manager who printed off my boarding pass and apologised. Marrakech was my happy place but I doubt I shall return.

The riad is kept beautifully clean & cheerful by lovely ladies who also provide great breakfast and if wanted romantic terrace meal with view of el fnna Square. Also roof top hot tub! The staff are very friendly Khadija especially impressed, arranging an amazing desert trip and helping us haggle for jewellery (after she had finished work!) .we went for a week and enjoyed every day! Thanks to all who looked after us and we would love to return soon!!

I’m giving it a 1 because i had a live wire hanging from above my door that led to me getting shocked when I opened it two days after I mentioned a current of electricity shocking me when I used the sink and bathroom. The room also smelled like poop.

Lovely Riad. Friendly hosts and delicious breakfast. Welcomed upon arrival. Very close to some lovely restaurants! Would recommend to others. Room had good functioning air conditioning. Would have given 5/5 if room was a bit more soundproof.

Super properen riad met heel erg vriendelijk personeel! Kamers werden elke dag heel netjes opgeruimd en gepoetst. Het ontbijt was lekker maar helaas niet erg uitgebreid. (Geen fruit, net genoeg voor 2 personen, weinig variatie). Daarnaast ook ideaal te bereiken vanaf de grote markt.
