I recently stayed at the Sunstar Beach Hotel, and it was an experience that left me quite disappointed. While I was looking forward to a relaxing holiday, this hotel failed to deliver on many fronts. Unfortunately, the issues I faced during my stay have put me off returning to Turkey for the foreseeable future. Below are the main reasons why I wouldn’t recommend this hotel: Airport Transfer: After arriving at 1:20 am, I had to wait over 90 minutes for the transfer to the hotel, which was far longer than expected. Following a long day of travel, this was exhausting and set the tone for a frustrating stay. Check-in Delays: Upon arriving at the hotel at 5:00 am, I found the receptionist asleep. It took around 30 minutes to wake them up and check in, which was not the welcome I had hoped for after such a long transfer. Room Issues: The room itself had multiple problems. The toilet was constantly flushing, and despite reporting it, it wasn't fixed until the following day. To make it through the first night, I had to manually fix the flush myself. Additionally, the hallway light in the room was faulty and only worked between 2:00 am and 5:00 am, despite being reported. The pool also appeared unmaintained, with salty water, and was not regularly cleaned or checked, as I’ve seen at other all-inclusive hotels. Wi-Fi Issues: Wi-Fi was not included in the rooms or pool area, and the hotel charged €5 per day for access, which was cash only. This was not made clear before booking. The free Wi-Fi in the lobby was extremely slow and unreliable, making it frustrating to even check emails or messages. Food and Misleading Options: The food was bland and lacked variety, with very basic options available. Despite the website advertising a range of afternoon snacks like chips, pizza, and burgers, what was actually offered each day was bread and dried sponge cake—hardly the variety one expects from an all-inclusive hotel. Lack of Entertainment: Entertainment at the hotel was virtually non-existent. For the first few days, there were a couple of activities, but these quickly disappeared after midweek. It felt like the hotel was winding down for the season, which should have been communicated before booking. If you’re looking for any kind of engaging entertainment, this hotel is not the place. Police Incident: During my stay, there was an incident involving the police. While I was not involved, another guest filmed the police and had their phone confiscated, with all media deleted. It would have been useful to know in advance that filming the police is illegal in Turkey to avoid this kind of situation. The entire atmosphere at the hotel changed after this incident, and it created a tense environment for the rest of my stay. Hotel Packing Up: Every afternoon, staff were seen packing away tables, chairs, and sunbeds into storage, creating a strange atmosphere as if the hotel was closing down around us. It was quite uncomfortable, and it felt like the hotel was mor
