Stanwell House

Congratulations to Stanwell House on their first Wine Dinner since the hotel’s refurbishment. It was wonderful evening of quality food/service and expert advice from Gusbourne Wine Ambassador Steve Kirkham. The fish course felt like it would test my boundaries! My only previous experience of cockles has been of an intense vinegar and gritty morsels served in a paper cup at the beach. However, The Turbot, squid ink linguine and cockle cream dish was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to seeing which wine is featured next.

We came for 3 nights and loved everything: fab decor, friendly but professional staff, great room, perfect location. Food all locally sourced and high quality, delicious produce. Beautifully and recently renovated, no expensive spared. Breakfast up there with the best. Menu good, only small thing would be to have 3 starters with Sunday lunch as little on the daily menu offers small starters. Small thing. Loved our stay and considering we came for a rest from a tough time and family loss, this hotel has made us feel so relaxed, welcome and valued customers. Will be back.

We had a fantastic family lunch in The Orangery. Beautiful setting and wonderful food. The service provided by all the staff was excellent, especially from our waitress, Bethan. The dining experience was all the better for Bethan’s caring nature and sparkling personality. Nice garden area too!! We look forward to returning again soon.

We visited on a Friday late lunch with a group of friends, our table wasn’t booked (turned out I had booked it for the day before ). This was absolutely no problem for the girls in front of house. They found us a lovely table with smiles and warm welcome. The menu here is so interesting with choices to suit everyone and fresh and exciting flavours. The starter tapas choices are lovely and I always have chicken satay which has tender chicken and a delightful sauce. The service was excellent. 3 young ladies served us and were polite , attentive and efficient. Well done stanwells with such a great setting / menu / staff you are my favourite place in the area !!!

Had an amazing meal for my birthday and nieve was such a good hostess. She looked after us from start to finish and was a friendly helpful member of staff ..thankyou nieve for making our evening so special x Would recommend anyone staying at stanwell the lady that booked us in originally was so helpful too infact everyone has been great 👍 Well done guys you rock ...

Totally tastefully refurbished since our last visit and hugely impressive, but retaining the same charm and character. Located in the heart of historic Lymington, easy access to the harbour and right on the high street. The restaurant menu is superb with modern British classics as well as superbly curated sharing plates. The menu caters for all dietary requirements and has impressive Vegan options too. The wine list is extensive as are the cocktails. I had probably the most magnificent Fish & Chips with all the usual trimmings. The staff are helpful, polite and attentive. A true icon on the South Coast of England and a superb place to unwind. It’s dog friendly too, which makes it a truly family get away. A booking for the restaurant is essential at the usual peak times as well as the traditional afternoon tea! The rooms are all tastefully decorated and each one has a unique ambiance. I’m sure in summer this place is buzzing given the large rear terrace. Definitely worth a visit and management deserves special praise for making a huge improvement on the traditional building. Well done.
