This place was surprisingly nice in a really cool town that wasn't really on my radar. It's a short distance to the sights and some really good restaurants. It was a little challenging to check-in since the street doesn't have parking and it's hard to find, but ring the bell or connect earlier with the owner and it'll be smooth I'm sure. The parking on site was nice because it's protected from the street, but like all of Europe, pricey. There is also a breakfast option, but didn't spend the money to find out the quality. Rooms are of a really good size, great air conditioner, and bed is comfortable.

We are a group of friends from New Zealand travelling Northern Italy by Vespa's and stayed in 11 different lots of accommodation, ranging from a Monastery in Rome to a 4-star hotel on the shores of Lake Como, but without doubt the La Gemma B & B gave us the best 'local' experience of our 3-week holiday. We booked 7 Rooms almost a year in advance and Gianluca was very helpful with the reservation process and equally brilliant during our stay. Breakfast was superb, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms were charming, clean and comfortable, and the location inside the ancient walls was perfect. We parked our 10 scooters and support van at the B & B at a very reasonable rate and often enjoyed their lovely garden setting when having drinks and finger food each evening. If you are visiting from overseas and want a true Italian experience, then stay at La Gemma B & B - you won't be disappointed!!

Loved this property. Couldn’t ask for better with the location. We walked to everything. Lucca is not huge but it was good to be in a spot that was fairly quiet at night. We were there for 4 nights that went over a weekend. There was a bar at the end of the street where a LOT of people gathered and there was noise from there but the minute the window was closed you could not really hear them. It was hot weather but the room was cool even with the windows shut so all good. There are restaurants and cafes close by and it is a short walk to the Piazza Anfiteatro where you are spoilt for dining options. Our room, Flora, was big. The bed was very comfortable, water was hot, WiFi was good and there is a fridge. The establishment itself is quiet. We couldn’t hear other guests at all. The included breakfast is very good. Plenty to choose from and should suit everyone. It set us up for the day. The only thing we would have liked was having access to make a cup of tea outside of breakfast hours. Not a complaint but it would have been nice. We didn’t have a car so I can’t comment on the parking area but it was an easy taxi ride from Lucca station. The hosts were amazing. Very helpful and friendly.we would definitely recommend a stay here.

We would highly recommend to anyone staying in Lucca. We stayed in the garden apartment which was amazing - spacious, air conditioned, well equipped kitchen, fabulous shower room and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was served in the main B&B house and was self service continental style with many different options and fresh coffee made to order, including decaf. The covered terrace in the garden was a real bonus. The staff were really helpful and went out of their way to give us the assistance we needed. Cannot comment on parking as we arrived by train from Pisa airport but would advise if you are carrying/dragging heavy luggage (in the heat or the rain) the walk from Lucca station was a bit of a challenge. Gemma di Elena kindly booked us a taxi from the apartment to Lucca station which cost 25 euro.

Wonderful location, walking distance to all major sights and parking the car next to the B&B. Wonderful friendly staff that took care of the permit from driving into the city centre. Despite being in the centre, no noise whatsoever. We were very happy

Very nice staff, quick check-in. The room was pretty basic but very clean and quiet. Central location, walking distance to the train station, shops and restaurants nearby. Public areas are very cosy. Great value for the price paid.

First and foremost the people here are the most pleasant you could imagine. They were so helpful especially with getting our car to their location as the GPS apparently likes to take everyone through town. They were so amazing and helpful with everything. Our room was right off the breakfast room and I was worried it would be loud in the morning but it wasn't at all. Loved our 3 night stay!

La posizione è perfetta per girare Lucca. Fortunatamente però siamo stati una notte sola: purtroppo la stanza non è insonorizzata, e siccome dava direttamente nell'aula dove avviene la colazione e l'accoglienza degli ospiti, non abbiamo mai avuto un momento di quiete. Era come se queste persone fossero nella stanza con noi , per non parlare di quelli al piano di sopra, il bellissimo soffitto con travi di legno, fa un rumore allucinante anche solo se camminano (mi sono svegliata a causa del rumore dei passi). Il desk del check-in è sempre nella stanza dove avviene la colazione, quindi oltre alle procedure di check-in e tutto il trambusto che ne consegue, il telefono squilla di continuo (avrei apprezzato almeno un tentativo da parte della signora che era lì lavorando di arrecare quanto meno il minor disturbo possibile alla quiete, ma invece era la prima ad utilizzare un tono di voce veramente forte, a chiacchierare e ridere). Non ci tornerei Nota positiva oltre la posizione, la colazione! Prodotti buoni.
