Ulasan K West Hotel & Spa

I would have liked to rate the hotel 4 out of 5 but “very good” does not cut it sadly. We stayed for one night in an executive room which is a very decent size. The room was supposed to have bathrobes and slippers but I had to ask for these and nearly did not get them. They should have been in the room already as per the booking description. The TV played standard programmes from Freeview which was fine but the menus also featured ITV iplayer, BBC catch up etc non of which worked, a bit annoying as I spent time trying to get them to work ! The room itself did smell a little, possibly smoke , not quite sure what but it wasn’t a fresh smell of a clean room . The window had been left open to air it so someone knew. It was also cold when we arrived so the usual ‘work out’ how the heating works routine took place. An executive room with no coffee is a point dropper, sorry but this is really rubbish. Either put coffee bags in there or a machine ! A kettle and three types of tea were available and a decent sized fridge.. An ice machine is available on every floor which is good. The bathroom was functional but you could tell it was getting old along with the 20 year old tiles. There was little space to put things and the shower took a bit of working out, you had to swing the whole tap to the right then turn the “on off” dial the other way to get the hand held part to work, both actions had to be done or it wouldn’t work. I haven’t seen a shower set up like that before but I know now ! The main shower head had quite a few of the rubber water nozzles missing so it did not work well. On a plus note there was a decent portable mirror for ladies to do their makeup but the main down side to the bathroom was the partially frosted glass door that gave little privacy should you want it. We didn’t use the bar but we did use the gym which was well laid out with excellent equipment. Two points here - there was no visible means of being able to wipe down the equipment one used with any sort of anti bac spray -plus the whole place was in dire need of a really good clean. The spa is an extra £25 per person but we didn’t use that area. Parking is limited but we got a space and you pay about £30 a day. The car park spaces nearest the entrance are under trees so your car will be covered in leaves if you park there but that probably won’t bother most people. Finally one last slightly negative point is the whole place feels dated. The picture online makes the place look really good, reality is a grey tired building with old towels helping seal windows. It needs a make over really. Plus points were - good staff at reception, a huge very comfortable bed, plug sockets and USB ports , a desk to work from, plenty of coat hangers, an ironing board and heating that worked even when you left the room.
